Job Description:

The Elder Services Director identifies and defines Elder Services within KANA, and develops infrastructure and systems implementing those services to Elder Beneficiaries on the road system and in the villages. This position supervises and directs program staff and activities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: include the following. Other duties may be assigned:

Strategically and intentionally identify and define Elder Services offered by KANA based on Elder needs and gaps in community resources and services. Identify and secure resources to develop, support, and enhance Elder services.

Work in conjunction with KANA leadership and staff to create and reinforce an Elder-focused culture within KANA.

Create and coordinate cultural appropriate systems of transportation, chore, meal, home-based, social, and other services for Elders, focusing on facilitation of aging in place.

Develop a system to ensure Elders are supported while seeking services at KANA or to referral sources. Advocate on behalf of Elders to make certain that their health and social needs are met both by KANA and their community.

Establish, maintain, and enhance collaboration with KANA staff, as well as with Tribes and applicable community partners, as needed or directed, to achieve program goals.

Implement and supervise all programmatic operations of KANA's Elder Services, including Title IV Elder meal services. Ensure proper reporting and compliance for all grants and services. Manage Elder services grant funds, oversee budgets, submit required reports and work with Finance department and grant program. Ensure compliance with grant regulations, program goals, objectives, and performance indicators.

Provide reports and updates as requested by supervisor, KANA Board of Directors and Administration.

Represent KANA in a positive and respectful manner assisting in the promotion and maintenance of good public relations among staff, community groups, and professional organizations.

Travel by small aircraft to the Kodiak Island villages.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Supervises Elder Services Advocate, Elder Services Coordinator, and other staff identified and established throughout development of services as necessary to accomplish duties, responsibilities, and comprehensive services to elders.
