The Daily Pilot is accepting resumes for a reporter to cover public safety in Newport Beach, Costa Mesa, Laguna Beach, Fountain Valley and Huntington Beach. This staff writer will be responsible for breaking news, news features, weekenders and occasional long-term projects.
Reporters often write one to two stories a day, so only journalists with a record of producing deadline copy will be considered. Candidates should be organized, dedicated and hardworking. Though this is a community newspaper, the Daily Pilot is owned by the Los Angeles Times and is committed to high standards for newsgathering.

The position is listed as CN-Reporter in the Los Angeles Times Guild. Daily Pilot staff is currently working remotely, but when we return to the newsroom the position will be based in Fountain Valley, Calif. Because this is a community news job, preference will be given to Southern California candidates and relocation will not be offered.
