The University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics is seeking Nursing Assistants for the Adult Surgery Specialty Unit (2RC) within the Medical Surgical Services (MSS) Division. Our Medical-Surgical Services Division is one of the largest in the hospital, with more than 260 of our 811 beds assigned to medical-surgical care settings.
The Surgical Specialty Unit (2 Roy Carver) is a 34-bed surgical unit that provides post-operative care for a variety of patients undergoing complex procedures. Essential to the care of these multidimensional patients is an interdisciplinary team skilled in the areas of post-operative disease processes. We Provides Care for Patients with the Following Conditions:
Solid organ transplant
Liver
Pancreas
Kidney
Trauma surgery
Vascular
Femoral popliteal bypass
Carotid endarterectomy
Abdominal aortic aneurysm
Colorectal Surgery
Bariatrics
Laparoscopic gastric sleeve
Emergency general surgery
We are looking seeking Nursing Assistants to perform specific tasks to assist members of the Nursing team in providing patient care under the direct supervision of Registered Nurses.
Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
Perform patient personal hygiene such as bathing, toileting, feeding, dressing, grooming and oral care for patients.
Turn, position, and ambulate patients.
Assist patients with bedpans, urinals, and perineal cleansing.
Clean equipment, patient bedside area and nursing unit.
Set up rooms for patient admission.
Transport patients by bed, cart, or wheelchair.
Transport equipment, specimens, and supplies.
Stock and supply patient rooms and Nursing unit.
Perform basic CPR as required.
Maintain patient confidentiality.
