GHD has an excellent opportunity for an experienced Waste Specialist to join our growing team and can be based at any GHD location in TX or LA. Working with the Waste Services group, this position offers great variety of projects!
Responsibilities of the position will be but are not limited to:
Coordinate and communicate with Operational, Maintenance, and Environmental management on matters related to waste and housekeeping issues
Own, understand, and interpret solid and hazardous waste permit requirements, regulations, and associated contingency and BMP plans
Perform weekly waste and chemical inspections for multiple sites
Schedule and perform waste characterization sampling, prepare samples for lab pick-up or shipping, track receipt of sample results from internal and external labs
Inspect and track non-hazardous, hazardous, and universal wastes, inventory and track interim and 90-day storage areas, coordinate with operational, maintenance, and waste disposal vendors' staff on shipping of wastes with tracking and filing of manifests
Perform housekeeping inspections and follow up on corrective actions needed
Participate in group meetings
Assist with required SPCC/SWPPP inspections
Assist with agency inspections
Assist with spill reporting and agency correspondence
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in related science field (preferably chemistry/biology/environmental science) or equivalent experience required
3 years' experience within environmental consulting or related industry preferred
Experience in a client facing role preferred
United States EPA, RCRA, TSCA, and DOT regulatory knowledge & experience preferred
Knowledge of Texas and Louisiana state regulations is highly desirable
Knowledge of United States Oil and Gas industry is desirable
CHMM certification is an added bonus
