Job Description:

Overview


The Claims Assistant I will provide assistance to our Subrogation Claims Adjusters by assigning new subrogation claims to the proper adjuster. The position has frequent oversight by the supervisor to support the Claim Assistant I. The Claim Assistant I maintains a solid understanding of AmTrust's mission, vision, and values. Upholds the standards of the AmTrust and Claims organization.


Responsibilities




  1. With coaching and oversight from Supervisor:



  • Assigns new claims to the subrogation adjusters

  • Assists adjusters in contacting insureds or other involved persons to obtain missing or incomplete information

  • Performs financial activities to include, but not limited to, issuing payments, request for stop pays, voids and check copies

  • Receives and/or returns telephone calls and emails as directed by claims adjuster

  • Coordinate and handle mailing requests to include, but not limited to, standard, overnights and certified/return receipts



  1. Whether directly or indirectly interacting with customers, ensures quality and timely service is provided to all.

  2. Develop some critical thinking and decision-making skills to gather, assess, analyze, question, verify, interpret and understand key or root issues.

  3. Demonstrates ability to learn technical processes and learn from mistakes in order to deliver a quality product to stakeholders and business partners.

  4. Perform tasks as assigned with an acceptable error rate.

  5. Establishes and maintains effective relationships with customers, gains their respect and trust.

  6. Adhere to any compliance changes as directed by your supervisor.

  • Ability to take direction and make sound business decisions

  • Self-motivated and detail oriented

  • Ability to adapt to a changing environment

  • Professional telephone demeanor and good oral and written communication skills

  • Ability to work well under pressure and multi-task in a fast-paced environment

  • Basic understanding of business technology

  • Ability to work in a team environment



Education/Experience


  • High School diploma

  • Some college preferred

  • 0-2 years of experience in a claims department or related experience preferred
