The Novelis plant located in Davenport, IA has an immediate opening for a Plant Utility. This position reports to the Production Supervisor.
Responsibilities & Qualifications
REQUIREMENTS:
Required to be knowledgeable of all phases of sheet coating.
Must be able to safely and efficiently operate mobile equipment.
Basic computer skills are required.
Knowledgeable about plant safety rules and departmental safety practices.
Good verbal communication skills are required.
Must be knowledgeable, able to train for and perform at minimum, three jobs within the department.
Must be able to work as part of a team.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
Able to perform, at a minimum, three positions on Paint Line; after training.
Assists Payoff operator.
Assists rewind operator.
Operates forklift.
Assists in skidding of coils.
Assists in removal of scrap.
Grinds rolls.
Checks chemical levels.
Performs environmental audits.
Location Profile
The finishing mill in Davenport opened in 1906 and employees more than 100 people. The facility cold rolls aluminum to a desired gauge anneals to temper levels coats and slits the rolled sheet to size. The facility produces mill finish coil and painted coil to serve the building and construction industry. Davenport Finishing has an active social responsibility committee that supports many organizations in the local community including Habitat for Humanity Riverbend Food Bank CASI and more. The facility also sponsors local events including their partnership with Junior Achievement in sponsoring and presenting at the Advanced Manufacturing Career Day.
