Job Description

Operation and maintenance of Wastewater Treatment Plant and 30 Lift stations.


  • The purpose of this position is to assist in the operation, and maintenance of grounds, pumps, motors, and Lift Station equipment.

  • Other duties include inspecting lift station wet wells and dry wells, responding to emergency call outs, taking readings from meter gauges, ensuring Lift Station is kept clean and orderly, and other duties as required.

Essential Job Functions:


  • Inspect, maintain and repair the City's Sanitary Sewer Lift Stations equipment and lift stations wet wells and dry wells daily for proper operation; repair or replace lift station pumps, motors, and valves; conduct routine maintenance of lift stations mechanical equipment such as re-packing pumps, replacing worn or damaged motor belts, and unstopping clogged pumps.

  • Take readings from gauges, meters, or other instruments and keep accurate record keeping, as required, for daily logs.

  • Keep lift stations in a clean and orderly manner, inside and outside.

  • Respond promptly to emergency call-outs.

Job Duties :


  • Provides day-to-day monitoring and basic plant and pump/booster station operations, rand basic corrective and preventative maintenance activities.

  • Monitors and observes operating conditions, records observations and data in shift log.

  • Diagnoses basic operational problems and takes corrective action per procedure.

  • Performs routine CLAIR (cleaning, lubrication, adjustment, inspection and minor repair) on machines and related equipment which may include pumps, engines, centrifuges, generators, valves, gates, mixers, conveyors, blowers, dryers, chemical feed, odor control, disinfection equipment, vacuum filters and belt presses.

  • Reports and documents results of work performed and enters into appropriate database.

  • Promptly reports any operational problems with machines or equipment to Lead or Supervisor.

  • Learns to inspect and becomes proficient at mechanical troubleshooting to determine repairs needed.

  • Dismantles equipment to gain access to and repairs defective parts using hand tools, power tools and precision measuring and testing devices.

  • Re-assembles and tests equipment ensuring safe and efficient operating condition is restored.

  • Learns to troubleshoot hydraulic, pneumatic and electronic equipment and instrumentation.

  • Performs manual labor including cleaning equipment, facilities and grounds as required and properly disposes of waste according to safety and environmental policies.

  • Operates vehicles, mobile equipment and material handling equipment for operational and maintenance purposes.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:


  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Technician is required to work days, evenings, nights, and weekends, any emergency weather event occurring during his/her shift schedule, and holidays or as needed.

  • A good attendance record is vital in this position.

  • Licenses and Certifications:Must possess a valid driver's license and a safe driving record.

  • Within six (6) months of employment: Possession of or ability to obtain a Class D wastewater certification through the state of Oklahoma.

  • Must be able to serve rotational 24 hour emergency on-call if required by site.
