Role description:

This is an exciting opportunity for a self-motivated and independent professional to join our team with support from one of the best qualified consulting firms in the country. In this position you will utilize your professional experience and technical knowledge of hydraulics, wastewater collection planning and modeling, combined with data analytics and intelligent water, as part of our local project teams developing innovative solutions throughout the national market. This is an excellent opportunity with high potential for growth, including leading and executing tasks and projects, mentoring junior staff, and developing project pursuits and opportunities

Role accountabilities:


  • Perform engineering activities for wastewater collection system and stormwater modeling, evaluations, investigations, planning, and feasibility studies.
  • Use hydraulic modeling software packages, like ICM/InfoWorks, EPA SWMM, and others.
  • Develop intelligent water solutions including digital twins, advanced analytic algorithms, machine learning, and real time operations guidance.
  • Perform water conveyance systems and asset management data analytics.
  • Program scripts and codes to facilitate and accelerate collection systems modeling including cloud-based solutions and solvers.
  • Exercise independent judgment on details of work and in making preliminary selections and adaptations of engineering alternatives.
  • Performs facility sizing calculations and conceptual cost opinions.
  • Analyze massive data sets including flow meter, rain gauge data, and water quality.
  • Prepare and make presentations to clients and for professional meetings.
  • Develop and review technical reports for projects.
  • Assist others with defining scope of work and objectives and developing pursuits through a strong understanding of business line and industry requirements.
  • Facilitate coordination for timely completion and submission of project deliverables.
  • Increase technical knowledge by participation with industry Association's, attending workshops, making presentations, and reviewing professional publications.
  • Exercise independent judgment on details of work and in making preliminary selections and adaptations of engineering alternatives.
  • Ensure project compliance with all Arcadis' practices and quality and safety standards.
Required Qualifications:

  • Five or more years' experience
  • Master's degree in Civil or Environment Engineering or related field of study.

  • Hydraulic modeling & engineering experience for evaluations, investigations, planning, feasibility studies, evaluations, and modeling of wastewater collection and stormwater systems.
  • Experience with ArcGIS data processing
  • Programming experience (C++, C# and Python experience preferred).
  • Experience with predictive and prescriptive analytics (machine learning).
  • Experience with analysis of flow meter and rain gauge data.
Key Skills and Attributes:

  • Hydraulic Modeling software experience, including ICM/Infoworks and EPA SWMM, EPANET.
  • Familiarity with predictive and prescriptive analytics (machine learning).
  • Experience with data processing and visualization software
  • Familiarity with Tableau and PowerBI.
  • Experience with evaluation, investigation, planning, feasibility studies and modeling of wastewater collection systems.
  • Microsoft Office experience.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written and ability to communicate effectively as part of a team and with clients and for the preparation/development of technical documents.
  • Project delivery experience as a Planning / Technical Lead, with budgeting, schedule monitoring, client management and project controls.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:

  • Engineer in Training Certification (EIT), PE license preferred
  • PhD degree in Civil or Environment Engineering or related field of study
  • Client Management and proposal activity experience
  • Water quality and sediment transport modeling
  • HEC-RAS modeling
  • Saturated and unsaturated groundwater modeling
