Senior Underwriter, Financial Institutions at Chubb

Chubb is currently seeking a skilled P&C Underwriter who has had experience underwriting financial institutions to join our Financial Institutions P&C practice in the Southwest region.

Position Description:

The Sr. Underwriter will handle a $10M renewal book with accounts produced out of both the Southwest and Midwest regions.  These accounts have all recently transitioned out of the Underwriting Center.  Products include Package, Property, General Liability, Auto, Worker’s Compensation, Umbrella/Excess and Foreign. We are looking for a candidate who is highly motivated, communicative, and results oriented with solid business and underwriting acumen to join our growing Financial Institutions P&C team.

 Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:


  • Candidate will have experience in underwriting middle market P&C business. Experience with Financial Institutions, Trust and Foreclosure business is a plus.

  • Underwriting duties will include developing and negotiating price, coverage, terms and conditions for all new business and renewals.

  • The underwriter must implement and manage effective pricing and rate strategies that will produce profitability, book growth, and successful producer relations.

  • Be responsible for profit, growth and retention of assigned book.

  • Strong sales and marketing skills are critical; must be able to demonstrate successful agency and broker management, including building, maintaining and managing producer and customer relationships.

  • Develop a prospect pipeline with our major trading partners, as well as engage with other business units for cross-selling opportunities.

  • Candidate must possess a high degree of proficiency with the underwriting process, with a solid background in risk analysis.

  • Candidate must have ability to effectively interact with all levels of customers and collaborate with a team of underwriters, claims and loss control.

  • Knowledge and proficiency with technical issues, compliance, coverage, products and pricing strategies expected.

  • Travel may include periodic trips to offices in the Southwest and Midwest regions.

 

Qualifications

 


  • 3 to 5 years minimum underwriting experience preferably in the core middle market segment.


  • Confidence to gain a marketplace presence and become a trusted advisor for assigned agents/brokers

  • Presentation and public speaking skills

  • Strong negotiations skills

  • Local broker and insurance marketplace relationships

  • Knowledge and understanding of current insurance marketplace conditions

  • Understanding and adherence to organizational and regulatory rules, and ability to adhere to underwriting authority

  • Understanding of Workers Compensation, General Liability, Property, Auto Liability, Umbrella/Excess Casualty, and International insurance coverage, terms and conditions

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
