DESCRIPTION

Michael Baker continues to expand our growing aviation practice. To enable continued growth, Michael Baker's Baltimore Aviation Practice seeks a Senior Project Manager. This growing group of engineers, planners and architects serves as the Region's Center of Excellence for Aviation Design while servicing clients nationwide. We are looking for a leader who will collaborate with their counterparts in our other regional offices to provide high quality engineering, architecture, environmental, and planning services. You will be directly involved with development and implementation of a business strategy and work with and overseeing multi-disciplinary project teams, while also helping to win work and expand our project portfolio and client base.

Responsibilities include:


  • Manage contract and/or individual projects for commercial, federal, and general aviation clients.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of the firm's business, financial success, alignment and management of office resources, staff growth and development, champion technical quality initiatives, design practice integration (along with Design Leaders) and project process leadership.
  • Manage, hire, and develop the engineering design team members.
  • Make project team assignments to maintain utilization and technical excellence.
  • Manage and coordinate workload of teams and provide leadership of team activities.
  • Communicate client objectives, provide constructive feedback and mentoring, and identify and share lessons learned with teams.
  • Position requires ownership and commitment to adhering to project timelines, budgets, project efficiency, and identifying, managing and tracking project changes.
  • Assure that technical quality of projects is achieved and enforce application of QA/QC process standards and requirements. Ensure appropriate client and internal communication including written project documentation.
  • Strong ability to work collaboratively with clients, senior project managers and in-house engineering disciplines.
  • Strong design, technical, and communication skills (both visually & verbally) are essential.
  • Lead Landside and/or Airside design teams in Aviation Projects.
  • Interact with Program owner and other stakeholders to understand needs and requests.
  • Verify compliance with International Standards.
  • Provide support for estimation and development of Aviation Related Proposals.
  • Coordinates work efforts and reviews work performed. Schedules and manages for integration of quality management during all phases of a project.

PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS


  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or architecture, with preferred candidates having a Master's degree for like professional disciplines.
  • 15+ years of specific Aviation Design and project experience.
  • Registered Professional Engineer or Registered Architect.
  • Demonstrated history of successful leadership on airport projects.
  • Previous experience leading projects and teams on complex projects and/or airport design and construction projects.
  • Provide Project Management for key client projects and large design teams led by the Aviation discipline.
  • Be a proactive resource to project teams in their decision-making processes and in the development of technically sound and innovative planning and design solutions.
  • Develop and maintain positive client relations. Communicate design, construction, and other issues to clients in a clear and compelling way. As necessary, work proactively to obtain approvals for additions to scope of work and influence clients to approve and process payables for our services.
  • Capable of leading project teams through the overall design and documentation process for multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Participate in marketing campaigns and interview teams, prepare proposals and develop fees.
  • Identify key project types and strategic new markets based on trends and staff capabilities.
  • Work closely with Sales Leads to track and support opportunities for key markets.
  • Strong abilities to initiate and maintain relationships with clients.
  • Work with clients and Project Principals to develop and negotiate budgets, schedules, and contracts.

COMPENSATION
The salary range for this position is $93,017 - $232,659.
