Material Control Operator at Elanco

This position helps to manage materials within the warehouse operation. It includes, but is not limited to, receiving, sampling, moving, and preparing material for use. Person at this position is responsible for cycle counting and helping to resolve discrepancies. It will include key responsibilities in the areas of:

Minimum (Required) Basic Qualification:


  • High School Diploma/GED

  • Ability to work in manufacturing/warehousing environment

  • Basic computer skills

  • Good documentation skills

  • Strong attention to detail

  • Good problem solving skills

  • Strong oral and written communication skills

  • Good teamwork and interpersonal interaction skill

Functions, Duties, Tasks:

Material Management


  • Perform work safely and maintain a safe, clean work environment

  • Perform physical tasks within warehouses including such things as receiving, sampling, labeling, loading/unloading of materials from various vehicles (dry bulk and liquid semi trailers, railcars, etc.), movement of materials using various vehicles (fork trucks, semi trailers, railcars), etc.

  • Manage paperwork and electronic documentation for managing materials

  • Manage rail fleet for movements, maintenance, and demurrage

Inventory Management


  • Perform cycle counting activities on periodic basis to maintain accurate inventory levels

  • Ensure material bins have adequate inventory to meet production requirements

  • Assist in investigating and resolving inventory discrepancies

Report Issues and Solve Problems


  • Report issues and events such as injuries/illnesses, deviations, etc.

  • Assist in performing investigations for issues and events

  • Troubleshoot equipment and process issues

Continuous Improvement


  • Assist in improving safe working conditions by identifying/improving hazards

  • Assist in improving business practices in warehouse and inventory management.

  • Assist in SAP script testing

Additional Preferences:


  • Previous experience working in warehouse environment preferred

  • Previous experience working in GMP environment preferred

  • Previous experience with SAP preferred

  • Previous experience with operating fork trucks preferred

  • Previous experience moving box/tank trailers and/or CDL license preferred

  • Previous experience moving railcars preferred

Other Information:


  • Known allergens in area

  • Tasks may require lifting up to 50 pounds

  • Work includes manual labor, including some in the outdoor elements

  • Rotating shift work and overtime may be required

  • Minimal travel may be required

  • Successful completion of training requirements related to the job will be required
