Job Description:

The Doe Run Company is currently seeking a Paralegal to provide legal department matters management and administrative support. This position is located in our St. Louis area corporate office.

Responsibilities:


  1. Legal Records Management – Maintain legal department files and Access databases. Track and report on matter statuses, documents filed, and garnishments. Monitor legal dept. mail\email. Serve as legal dept. record coordinator.

  2. Litigation Management –Provide document collection assistance related to litigation and governmental information requests. Draft and track legal hold notices. Assist with investigations, subpoenas, trial preparation, legal review\coding and legal research.

  3. Corporate Governance – Provide assistance in the preparation, tracking and organization of board minutes and resolutions.

  4. Environmental – Assist in the preparation and filing of agency correspondence and reports in both paper and electronic form.

  5. Legal Dept. Accounts Payable – Track, process, and report on dept. accounts payable, POs and insurance reimbursements. Track budget expenditures and update budget forecasts.

  6. Administrative/Clerical - Provide administrative support including scanning of records and department calendar\docket. Assist with company record retention program.

  7. Other duties as assigned.

Education & Experience:


  • 2 year degree required in relevant field.

  • Paralegal certificate preferred.

  • At least 3 years paralegal or legal assistant experience.

  • Experience in budget administration preferred.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:


  • Microsoft Office Suite – advanced skills, particularly Access, Excel (must be able to create spreadsheets, formulas and validate data) and OneNote.

  • Adobe Acrobat – proficient skills.

  • SharePoint – basic skills.

  • ERP (such as PeopleSoft) – basic skills

  • Legal review systems – basic skills – Ipro and\or Relativity.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements:


  • Regularly uses a computer and telephone.

  • General office environment, but occasionally requires working in confined spaces and wet, humid conditions (non-weather). Rarely requires working in extreme cold (non-weather).

  • Regularly requires sitting, hearing, feeling attributes of objects, grasping and repetitive movement. Frequently requires talking. Occasionally requires reaching with hands/arms, stooping, kneeling, crouching and crawling. Rarely requires pushing, standing, walking, driving, climbing or balancing, moving up and down from/to sitting position on the floor. Requires clarity of vision at 20 inches or less and the ability to read and write.

  • Frequently required to lift up to 5 pounds. Occasionally required to lift up to 50 pounds. Rarely required to lift up to 75 pounds.
