Associate Director for Instructional Design, Teaching and Learning Center (TLC)
 

Working under the supervision of the Director of TLC, the Associate Director will provide the development and implementation of comprehensive, coordinated programs, systems, and support for instructional design. The Associate Director will work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and administrators to ensure that the TLC supports faculty needs in instructional design, learning support, and the promotion of innovative academic practices across multiple instructional delivery modalities. The position will be a member of the newly created office and will have the opportunity to design the road map for this at Stevens.

Areas of Responsibility
•Maintain currency in instructional design, curriculum development, and instructional technology best practice.

• Designs and executes faculty in-service training programs for teaching.

• Advises and leads faculty in the use of instructional technology, from conceptualizing options and designing programs, to deploying them in the classroom across multiple delivery modalities.

• Oversees the administration of the Colleges learning management system (LMS, currently Canvas) and conducts LMS training sessions.

• Directs the development and delivery of professional development activities relating to pedagogy and instructional technologies.

• Working collaboratively with IT, develops the instructional technology plan.

• Working closely with IT, evaluates new instructional software and hardware and assesses their application to instruction.

• Assesses faculty needs for enhancement of skills in utilizing technology in instruction.

• Serves as a liaison between Information Technology staff and faculty in all matters relating to instructional technology in the classroom and ensures adequate front-line support and timely resolution of problems.

• Assists the schools/college with accreditation related activities.

• Coordinating the logistics for all TLC programs, including creating promotional materials, registration forms, and application forms; reserving event space; placing catering orders; sending regularly scheduled announcement emails; managing registrations; reviewing applications; ensuring staff coverage for each event; creating and distributing post-event surveys; and responding to inquiries about programs.

Required Qualifications

Candidates must possess the following qualifications:


  • Master’s degree in educational technology, instructional technology, curriculum design, or related field required.

  • Minimum of five-year experience and strong track record in instructional design

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to interact confidently with faculty, staff, and administrators

  • Experience with program development, management, and assessment

  • Proven ability to produce error-free promotional materials, including email announcements and flyers

  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Publisher

  • Experience using Microsoft Forms, Google Forms, and/or Survey Monkey

  • Ability to learn how to use additional software, systems, and programs as needed
