Area of Responsibility:

The Team Leader role will be on the Client Pricing COE which exists to develop a robust client pricing function for an organization of our size/complexity while developing forward-looking monetization approaches that complement Firm strategy.  This role will lead a team of Data Analysts and Strategist in delivering analytical products to influence and inform Firm level strategy and build the analytical pricing tools of the future.

Responsibility Summary:


  • Manage a team of analysts and strategist that work with wide range of stakeholders of the firm to conduct and deliver accurate analysis to all levels of the firm to make critical business decisions related to client pricing and other monetization initiatives in the US and Canada.

  • Lead a strategist(s) in development of a analytical capabilities roadmap which meets the pricing needs for a firm of our size and complexity.  Serve as the CP COE's primary liaison with Firm Analytics and the broader Firm analytical community

  • Oversee the creation and maintenance of simple to more complex pricing models.

  • Maintain an analytic process that has credibility at all levels of the firm which requires strong understanding of quality control, standard procedures, statistical methods, and strong communication skills.

  • Identify, extract, interpret and integrate statistical analysis of client data to support business decisions regarding firm pricing and monetization initiatives.

  • Work with various business leaders at all levels of the firm and financial advisors to understand business questions or problems and recommend an appropriate analytical approach to assist with decision-making process.

  • Communicate across a wide range of audiences with specialized subject matter expertise including data providers, marketing leaders, product leaders, financial advisors, and technology professionals.

  • Query data warehouse to access appropriate information using advanced SQL skills to create complex queries that are written efficiently to pull data from many tables with various structures.

  • Summarize and communicate analytical results and recommendations to wide range of audiences at all levels of the firm with various levels of specialized subject matter expertise.

  • Collaborate with internal data providers and outside vendors to enhance data availability and usability within the data warehouse.  Includes creating requirements, test plans and data validation.

  • Develop a strong understanding of the various product types and fee structures offered through Edward Jones and how each fits within an individual investor's needs.  

Decision Making:


  • Personnel decisions include performance reviews, hiring selection and necessary training.

  • Decisions are related to analytical approaches and methods to communicate results.

  • Decisions are made based on experience and business knowledge with some direction and guidance if necessary, but in accordance with some policies and guidelines.  Analytical discretion is allowed based on experience. 

Span of Influence:


  • This position leads a team of analysts and strategists including performance reviews, assigning work and review of work output.

  • The work output of the team has the ability to influence business results based on decisions that are made using the analytical work product. The analysis that is performed influences the revenue generated through marketing programs and could impact revenue from marketing programs of over $1 million.  Analytic efforts also influence pricing strategies that could significantly impact revenue to the firm.  

  • The leader works with business areas from each division, and all levels, of the firm to help define the scope of analytic projects and has the ability to pull all necessary data to support the project.  The leader then provides thought leadership of analysis using the proper statistical techniques and delivers results to the end user. For pricing test and learn initiatives the leader manages the analyst who selects test and control groups.

Qualifications Required in the Job:


  • Undergraduate degree required, preferably in the areas of finance, business or information systems.  Advanced degree is a plus.

  • 3+ years general business experience in marketing, finance, data analytics, or information systems fields strongly preferred.

  • Ability to lead team of analysts and strategists, prioritize multiple analytic projects from all areas of the firm.

  • Strong analytical thinking skills and knowledge of statistical processes required

  • An understanding of relational database architectures and data elements.  Experience with Oracle SQL proficiency required.

  • Ability to work effectively both independently and in a team environment.

  • Technical proficiency in the following:


             o    An understanding of relational database architectures and data elements 

             o    Writing queries in Oracle SQL (Microsoft Access and Hyperion preferred but not required)

  • Proficiency with MS Excel required, including ability to utilize pivot tables, formulas, charting, VLookups. VBA skills a plus.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with ability to present complex data in an understandable and concise format, appropriate for end-user audience.

  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects along with recurring responsibilities. Project management skills helpful with ability to formulate, define and execute tasks towards completion of project objectives and timeline.  

  • Working knowledge of financial products and services strongly preferred.
