Position Overview:

The Release Engineer facilitates the promotion and deployment of configuration within the Salesforce application using a variety of metadata and record data tools. This individual will be responsible for guiding best practices around environment management and security models while executing a release strategy. Through their business and analytical skills, they will provide expertise, recommendations, and thought leadership for both clients and internal teams. This individual aligns client and internal teams to a release schedule that fits the overall project management strategy. This individual will execute the deployment of configuration including metadata, record data, and manual configurations throughout a Salesforce environment structure. The Release Engineer is the subject matter expert on projects pertaining to org structure, CRED, timeline, deployment tools, and overall release success.  

Key Responsibilities:



  • Collaboration: Works directly with build teams and clients across a number of projects to understand individual project requirements in order to create a customized deployment plan.


  • Communication: Work directly with the core ATG Deployment Team to confirm daily responsibilities while ensuring any project work and important dates are tracked within a shared team calendar.


  • Knowledge: Consume onboarding and training material, attend daily Deployment Team Standups, and weekly Office Hours sessions to hone skills pertaining to major release areas including Org Structure, Deployment Tools, Security Models, Salesforce Best Practices, etc.

Key Experience:


  • Demonstrates aptitude and experience in the following areas:



  • Entry level Strong consultative and customer service skills; some knowledge of Salesforce release management processes


  • Mid-level: Experience within IT Delivery type projects; significant hands on experience in Salesforce release management processes


  • Senior level: Proven experience working on and leading releases in the Salesforce Application utilizing multiple different approaches and tools


  • Possesses the ability to work independently and in teams with a thorough knowledge and understanding of various operating systems and commonly used software applications such as Visual Studio code, GIT, and Microsoft Excel

  • Business analysis and requirements gathering abilities

  • Experience with basic fundamentals of the Salesforce application such as object models, user interface, and administration

    • Salesforce CPQ or Billing experience is a plus



  • Demonstrates the ability to lead system release life cycles for software implementation projects

  • Experience managing simultaneous projects with differing requirements

  • Possesses effective troubleshooting skills and the ability to creatively problem solve

  • Displays strong work ethic and due diligence when completing tasks

Preferred Knowledge and Skills:


  • Experience with deploying metadata either via the metadata api, ANT, Salesforce DX, changesets and/or XML packages

  • Experience deploying referential record data with tools such as dataloaders

  • Experience leveraging release management tools for Salesforce such as ClickDeploy, Copado, BlueCanvas and Prodly AppOpps

  • Understanding of metadata component types such as custom fields, flows, and Apex within the Salesforce application

  • Exemplifies a high degree of personal integrity and interpersonal skills and abilities

  • Has a fundamental understanding of business practices and basic knowledge of information management systems, with the drive and ability to learn quickly

  • Sets priorities, goals, and timetables to manage time efficiently and achieve maximum productivity

  • Proves a willingness to commit the additional time and effort necessary during period of heavy workload in order to meet project milestones and delivery deadlines

  • Communicates with clarity and impact, understanding how the message has been received

  • Exhibits high energy and drive, brings enthusiasm and the ability to engage with people at multiple levels on projects and meetings

  • Is firm and decisive, willing to make unpopular decisions when necessary

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Education:


  • 4-year degree in a technical or business field of study preferred

  • Knowledge of Quote to Cash process (CPQ, Order Management, Billing, and CRM) a plus

  • Experience working in the Salesforce.com platform

Location and Travel:


  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 10% (subject to change at any time based off project demands)
