KCAS Bioanalytical & Biomarker Services is seeking Scientist I, II and III applicants for positions within its newly established Gene and Cell Therapy Bioanalysis group in Shawnee, Kansas. Previous experience with design, method development, validation, and sample analysis utilizing techniques such as flow cytometry, ELISPOT, cell-based assays, ELISA, and microscopy within a GLP environment laboratory environment is highly desired. KCAS is a contract research organization (CRO) providing bioanalytical & biomarker services to pharmaceutical clients in support of drug developments, preclinical and clinical studies.

Position Summary: Design, develop, validate and analyze samples utilizing techniques such as flow cytometry, ELISPOT, tissue culture, cell-based assays, ELISA, and microscopy within a GLP environment laboratory environment.
Key Job Responsibilities: Typical responsibilities of the Scientist I, II, or III may include, but are not limited to, the following:
Working knowledge of the principles of Translational Immunology, by current state of the art technologies and methodologies including but not limited to: flow-cytometry, cell-based assays, ELISPOT, tissue culture microscopy, and ELISA.
Experience with multi-color (10 or more) flow cytometry panels - including surface, intra-cytoplasmic, phosphorylated-epitope, and/or intra-nuclear cell staining.
Experience working with human blood and mouse primary cells and tissue, and derived cell culture skills at BSL-II level
Plan and carry out all phases of assigned projects including, R&D, ensure adequate supplies, method validation, test procedure preparation, sample analysis, data calculation, interpretation & review, troubleshooting and report preparation
Design experiments & evaluate outcome vs. current SOPs, protocols other relevant standards; recommend appropriate course of action as necessary
Act as lead scientist, provide work instructions and technical training to more junior scientific staff in the conducting of assigned projects
Interact with clients and/or auditors as necessary
Increasing scientist levels will oversee and lead project teams
Education and Experience:
Scientist I:
Bachelor's degree in microbiology, biochemistry, chemistry, immunology, or related field with 6 years' experience in a scientific laboratory environment; or
Master's degree in microbiology, biochemistry, chemistry, immunology, or related field with 4 years' experience in a scientific laboratory environment; or
PhD in microbiology, biochemistry, chemistry, immunology, or related field with 2 years' experience in a scientific laboratory environment.
Scientist II:
Bachelor's degree in microbiology, biochemistry, chemistry, immunology, or related field with 8 years' experience in a scientific laboratory environment; or
Master's degree in microbiology, biochemistry, chemistry, immunology, or related field with 6 years' experience in a scientific laboratory environment; or
PhD in microbiology, biochemistry, chemistry, immunology, or related field with 4 years' experience in a scientific laboratory environment.
Scientist III:
Bachelor's degree in microbiology, biochemistry, chemistry, immunology, or related field with 10 years' experience in a scientific laboratory environment; or
Master's degree in microbiology, biochemistry, chemistry, immunology, or related field with 8 years' experience in a scientific laboratory environment; or
PhD in microbiology, biochemistry, chemistry, immunology, or related field with 6 years' experience in a scientific laboratory environment.
Competencies, Skills & Personal Attributes:
Experience with design, method development, validation, and sample analysis utilizing techniques such as flow cytometry, ELISPOT, tissue culture, cell-based assays, ELISA, and
Thorough understanding of GLP requirements, and Good Documentation Practices (GDP)
Experience in organizing and leading teams
