Forward Air is seeking a Cartage Operations Supervisor that can oversee a team that is responsible for ensuring shipments are picked up and delivered on time across the nation. This person will provide direct and primary supervision, training, and guidance to the Pickup and Delivery Specialists, other supporting staff and carriers thereby promoting excellence, quality and service performance. The Cartage Operations Supervisor is also responsible for the service coordination between customer, carrier, sales and terminal operations. Monitoring phone and email performance. Ensure the coordination and completion of all duties within the Cartage Operations team.
Core Responsibilities and Duties
Ensure the training and guidance of the Operations team for day to day activities
Ensure the quality of cause and corrective action of agents in the event of service failures
Point of contact for escalated situations; troubleshoot solutions
Utilize Forward Air Completes' Dashboard to manage potential shipments in jeopardy of service delays - protecting service is the fundamental goal
Conduct professional verbal and written communications with customers, vendors and other Forward Air personnel of a high and collaborative quality
Troubleshooting service situations that may require collaboration across multiple groups and/or departments
Utilize AS400 and various other software programs to accomplish daily work
Directly assist with and oversee the timely reconciling of shipments
Other duties as assigned

Possess leadership skills
Thorough knowledge of mathematics; apply basic-moderate calculations
Must be able to multitask in a fast paced environment
Ability to drive performance of direct reports and lead a team
Ability to provide risk management
Must have the ability to relate to and work well with different personalities. Must be outgoing and friendly and have the ability to build partnerships
Able to work flexible hours
International/Import experience is a plus
Must possess demonstrated leadership ability
Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing with all levels
Ability to negotiate with different carriers and coworkers
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, supervisors, officers, carriers and the public
Skills:
Ideal candidate will possess a "can do" attitude with a "will do" work ethic
Must have the ability to work in a fast paced environment
Experience with AS400 operating systems is a plus
Transportation industry knowledge and experience is a plus
