End Time : 4:00 pm

Schedule Days : Monday - Friday

Position Status: Full Time (40 hrs week)

Job Summary:

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Empire Power Systems team. In this role, you will troubleshoot, repair and service generators, static and rotary UPS, switching and communications equipment associated with emergency power systems. Leverage experience and knowledge to provide systems solutions and guide projects through client turn over. *** Candidates MUST HAVE A MINIMUM of 5 years experience in Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS), Advanced Electrical Systems (AES), or related Power Generation experience to be considered.***

Essential Functions:


  1. Troubleshoot, repair, recondition, maintain and diagnose equipment on specifically generators, ATS, UPS (static and rotary), PDU & Switchgear understand how these systems interact and work together.
  2. Troubleshoot and diagnose equipment malfunctions and failures.
  3. Maintain good client relations and support for corporate marketing objectives.
  4. Repair, recondition, and maintain equipment and components.
  5. Prepare service reports.
  6. Plan and control cost of repair jobs.
  7. Maintain company equipment keep in good clean orderly condition.
  8. Work safely at all times. Adhere to all applicable safety policies. Comply with all company policies, procedures and standards.

Additional Responsibilities:


  1. Own and maintain required personal tools.
  2. Learn and use Empire, Caterpillar and allied product procedures and systems.
  3. Perform other related duties as assigned.
  4. Maintain current MSHA card.
  5. Work overtime as needed.
  6. Travel as needed.
  7. Make warranty and repair recommendations.
  8. Work within and promote corporate values.
  9. Provide jobsite leadership & train other technicians and helpers on UPS, ATS and switchgear.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:


  1. Effective written and verbal communication.
  2. Demonstrated technical skill competence. (ie: battery testing, UPS preventative maintenance and switchgear.
  3. Operate and understand diagnostic equipment including computerized instrumentation.
  4. Professional conduct, and grooming, adhering to company policy.
  5. Ability to work cooperatively.
  6. Punctual, having acceptable attendance to meet all company standards and requirements.
  7. Must be able to meet all safety requirements for applicable safety policies and use of all required safety equipment.
  8. Communicate verbally and in writing appropriate information about advanced electrical components of backup power system including reserve power batteries, generator, ATS, UPS (static and rotary), PDU & Switchgear.

Education and Experience:


  1. Proof of high school diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
  2. Current driver's license.
  3. Minimum of 6 months related experience
  4. Must be able to communicate (speak, read, comprehend, write) in English.
