We are looking for a Copywriter to join our team onsite in Olathe, KS. Your portfolio must demonstrate creative excellence, as well as superb copywriting ability for traditional and social. Needs a thorough understanding of social; how it works and how to write for it. Needs to show an aptitude and/or a passion for the markets Garmin serves – fitness, outdoor, marine, auto and aviation.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Team up with an art director to develop creative concepts for traditional, digital and social media ads
Familiarity with the latest social media ad platforms on Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, etc. with ability to extend traditional campaigns into these channels
Produce persuasive copy for ads targeting Garmin’s varied market segments
Develop an in-depth understanding of our products in order to concept and write instructional videos for specific products and product groups
Write promotional copy for use by dealers in support of their websites and catalogs
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:
Remain current on the features and benefits of the complete Garmin product line
Work across departments with social media team, PR team and sponsorship team to create integrated campaigns
Natural ability to present creative and passionately sell ideas to business segments
Read all the associated trade and consumer publications to remain current on market trends and to observe competitive advertising
Attend tradeshows as requested by the Creative Director or Director of Marketing Communications
Accept and complete projects and other duties as assigned by the Creative Director
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
Bachelors Degree in Journalism, Advertising, English or related degree or a field relevant to the essential functions of this job description
Must possess a minimum of 1 year of copywriting experience in an ad agency or similar environment
Must possess strong and effective writing skills
Must demonstrate proficiency in word processing including Microsoft Word and other word processing tools
Demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
Must be team-oriented, possess a positive attitude and work well with others
Must possess demonstrated strong presentation skills
Must be detail-oriented and have the ability to work proactively and effectively with minimal supervision
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:
5 + years copywriting experience in an ad agency or similar environment preferred
Professional experience and/or personal interest in outdoor activities such as hiking, hunting, camping, fishing, etc.
