The Painter I position is responsible for maintaining and improving the physical environment and facilities of the University. Helps to provide a clean, healthy and comfortable work and study environment. This Painter position will assist to keep up with all the construction and renovations of classrooms and offices, including texturing walls, floating, sanding and painting walls, doors and equipment. 

Duties:

• Maintenance campus wide room painting schedule, paint work orders.
• Renovation and new construction – texture walls, float, sand, texture and paint walls, doors, and equipment.
• Provide exterior equipment/building painting.
• Maintain shop and equipment cleanliness and inventory.
• Provide instruction to Maintenance Technicians when they are assigned to painting or finishing work.

1. High School diploma or GED.

2. Two years experience in a commercial setting.

3. Knowledge of the different types of paints and stains and the ability to use them over different types of materials.

4. Ability to patch and texture damaged walls surfaces and recognize the end result of different knap types in rollers.

5. Ability to determine the type of primers that are compatible with paints being used and that will protect different surfaces.

6. Ability to left dead loads of up to 50 lbs. on a daily basis
