Position Summary:

We are seeking a part-time Library Support Services to work at our federal customer site in Mountain View, CA and to join our collaborative, innovative, customer-centric culture. The position will be responsible for various administrative duties that require an understanding of the organization, programs, and procedures.

Primary Responsibilities Include:


  • Process document delivery and interlibrary loan (ILL) borrowing requests from library patrons, including locating scientific/technical articles and books. Maintain document delivery and borrowing records.

  • Process ILL lending requests from other libraries, including locating items in the collection, scanning, and delivering/mailing items. Maintain lending records.

  • Maintain circulation records in the library system, including updating item status and user information.

  • Shelve library materials and maintain order in the Life Sciences Library, including providing quick reference and assisting library patrons in the use of library computers and equipment.

  • Process library materials for addition to or removal from the collection, including copy cataloging.

Your Experience & Background:


  • Must be a U.S. citizen.

  • Library Associate Degree/Certificate Program or A.A. degree with equivalent applicable library experience.

  • Minimum of 2 years work experience in a research library. Prefer experience in a government, academic, or corporate library.

  • Knowledge of interlibrary loan (ILL) practices and working knowledge of library systems.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, with attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Experience with library circulation functions and general reference search strategies.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).

  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
