Information Protection Director at Cigna

Job Description:

The Director for the Intel Fusion Center (IFC) will be responsible for delivering Threat Intel, Threat Hunt and Adversary Simulation as a service to the Cigna enterprise and in this capacity, will be responsible for the development and delivery of reports, updates and strategy to key stakeholders. The IFC leader will be responsible for providing strategic threat intelligence to inform leadership decisions, deliver proactive threat detection through threat hunting and will ensure that the existing Cyber threat controls are effectively tested through adversary emulation (red/purple team engagements). This leader will coordinate with Cigna's Chief Information Security Officers (VP and MD level) to establish the process for infusing threat intelligence reports into strategic decisions and delivering leadership intelligence briefs.

As Cigna's evolution and growth continues, the IFC Director will be responsible for standardizing process and procedures across the enterprise to ensure an efficient and consistent program is established globally. The mission of reducing Cyber risk by preventing, and minimizing the impact of Cyber security incidents requires that each region/country/subsidiary be considered based upon their own unique environments, regulatory requirements, etc. The IFC Director will be responsible for ensuring that the IFC program takes these unique, global requirements into consideration and that the Intel, Hunt and Adversary Simulation services delivered meet the needs of our internal Cigna business customers.

IFC is dependent on key partnerships with peer security organizations as well as corporate shared services including Legal, HR, ER, Privacy, Compliance, Global Security and others. The IFC Director will be responsible for establishing and maintaining these relationships to ensure support of the program. The Director will also be responsible for maturing the entire IFC program and standardizing all processes and procedures across the enterprise to ensure an efficient and consistent program is established.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Strong business acumen to help establish business and technical solutions

  • Proven track record of establishing strong partnerships to enable Threat Intelligence, Hunting and Red/Purple Team solutions

  • Ability to understand and adapt to new technical requirements and solutions in order to continue to deliver IR services to the enterprise

  • Effective communications skills at a both peer and leadership level

  • Proven ability to direct and coordinate managers and staff within the immediate department and without

  • Proven track record of developing and maturing staff and an organization with measured success based on CMM or similar models

  • Strong knowledge of security frameworks such as MITRE and NIST

  • Effective influencer of peers and leadership

  • Able to develop and provide both strategic and tactical direction for managers and individual contributors

  • Capable of developing and maintaining key business partner and IT relationships across Cigna

  • Able to develop and deliver service oriented delivery model for stakeholders throughout the enterprise

  • Evolve metrics and reporting to enhance measurement of program efficacy and risk


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Demonstrated ability to work and lead in a team environment both in-person and remotely at a global scale

  • Proven ability to manage and influence both vertically and horizontally throughout a large enterprise

  • Capable of leading cross-functional teams in high pressure incident response situations

  • Experienced with both Agile and Waterfall management methodologies

  • Ability to adapt quickly within a fluid environment and effectively and clearly prioritize tasks and work for teams

  • Effectively collaborate with team members and across organizations to problem solve

  • Proven effectiveness in the development and implementation of new capabilities including the clear understanding of requirements from stakeholders and the effective delivery to those stakeholders

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, analytical ability, strong judgment and leadership skills, and the ability to work effectively with peers, IT management and senior leaders

  • Ability to participate and take lead when needed in customer and partner facing meetings and projects, including those that involve technical topics or technical service delivery

  • Strong analytical skills and ability to creatively challenge current methods and procedures

  • Ability to operate and contribute effectively as a remote member of a global Information Protection leadership team

  • Ability to obtain a strong understanding of the inter-workings of all technical controls and the ability to articulate those controls in business terms to ensure understanding for a non-technical audience


Education Requirements:

  • Should possess a bachelor degree; preferably in the areas of Cybersecurity or Computer Science. Significant industry experience will be considered in lieu of a Bachelor degree. MBA or MHA preferred.

  • 10+ years of Cyber Security focused experience, threat intel, data loss prevention, forensics, e-discovery or related IT experience

  • 5+ years of large enterprise experience with proven ability to architect and integrate security products and process across IT and business applications


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Industry recognized certification in cyber security such as GCIA, GCIH, CISSP or similar are a plus but experience is preferred

This role is WAH/Flex which allows most if not all of the work to be performed at home. Employees must be fully vaccinated if they choose to come onsite.

This position is not eligible to be performed in Colorado.
