Qualifications for the Position:

A High School diploma or G.E.D. A minimum of three months directly related experience.

Ability to understand production schedules. Familiar with operation of production machinery. Good mechanical skills. Ability to communicate at all levels.

UH Tasks General Description of Work Detail Description of Work Weight-Lifting Requirement
Operate Fork Lift Obtain certification/license to mount, dismount, and operate powered forklift Able to work the pedals and leavers needed to control forklift 20 to 30 lbs.
Janitorial / Clean-up Activities Janitorial tasks including trash removal, sweeping, floor waxing and buffing, restroom cleaning, etc. Lift a full 5 gallon bucket, handle floor buffer, move furniture / equipment as needed to wash & wax 50 lbs.
Operation of Hydroblaster Able to connect the hoses to the Hydroblasters Use a wrench to connect hoses & operate hand-wheels to adjust Hydroblaster wand. 20 to 30 lbs.
Manage Waste Drums Manipulate drums with drum-handling equipment, forklift, hand-truck, etc. Positioning/orientation of drum to utilize drum-handling equipment 50 lbs.
Manage Trash Sort facility solid trash into proper disposal / recycle location Move empty drums & boxes; sort trash into appropriate waste containers 40 lbs
Computer Skills Data entry & retrieval to and from PLC. Enter payroll information, detailed entry of hazardous & non-hazardous drum inventory and use of plant "work order" system to locate tasks & enter activity on tasks. Desk Work
Fire Watch Activities Perform fire-watch duties for hot work activity in required areas Carry Lower Explosive Limit (LEL) sensor, walk around hot-work area, and functionally use a portable fire extinguisher 10 lbs.
Position / Move Hoses Transfer material between containers using hoses Connect, disconnect, and move hoses; open & close manual valves 50 lbs.
Clean Trenches Scrape, shovel, hose solid material from trenches to keep them flowing Scrape, shovel, lift solid latex out of trenches 50 lbs.
Drum Inventory Inventory Drums Walk the drum storage areas and visually count drums <1 Lb.
Surface Cleaning Clean-up spills or residues when necessary Use pressurized water including fire hoses on occasion up to 50 lbs
Vessels Cleaning Confined Space Entry into various vessels (Reactors, Bulk Tanks, Rail Cars) to clean them Entering/exiting vessels through manways (typically 18 - 24 inch openings) using ladders, harnesses, and/or retrieval equipment; use scraping tools while in vessels. Abnormal body positions, plus up to 50 lbs. lifting
Distribution of Raw Materials Move Raw Materials into local storage area from delivery area using non-powered pallet jack and lifting. Using pallet jack, pull pallets into storage areas & move small containers from pallets to storage areas. Lifting and pulling up to 50 lbs
Wear negative-pressure respirator General cleaning of some areas requires wearing a negative-pressure respirator Vessel-cleanings and addressing spills may require the use of a respirator. This requires OSHA-mandated fit test and medical clearance by a licensed health care professional. Associated work while wearing a respirator would be up to 50 lbs.
Bulk Material Transfer Movement of waste products from a variety of containers (bulk to drums) into shipping containers (tank trucks, totes, and drums) Manipulating and connecting hoses, operating handled valves, and positioning empty and full containers. Abnormal body positions, plus up to 50 lbs. lifting
