In collaboration with the SVP, Health Ventures the Director, Health Ventures has direct responsibility for assisting and developing, organizing and promoting business development and joint ventures and business partnerships between Hackensack Meridian Health and physicians and/or other entities. The Director will support senior leadership in achieving HMH strategic goals, plans and business objectives for the immediate and long-term future. Director implements strategic initiatives within the business unit to ensure the best possible patient experience, while delivering the highest quality outcomes and producing meaningful returns on investments. This position will support the following services: Urgent Care, Surgery Centers.

Responsibilities

A day in the life of the Director of Health Ventures at Hackensack Meridian Health includes:

    Assists the SVP Health Ventures in the implementation of the strategic plans.
  • Integrates the continuity of care between the service lines within the business unit and across the continuum.

  • Collaborates with all support services related to the business unit including but not limited to human resources, information technology, managed care, legal, marketing, finance and population health. The director will work with these services to move the business of the business unit forward.

  • Functions as a facilitator between Hackensack Meridian Health and our joint venture partners. Manages the relationship with the managed service organizations (MSO) that manage the business units business.

  • Manages and tracts budget and metrics critical for the business units financial and operational success. Modifies business activity where needed in response to financial situations. Works with the managed care team to obtain favorable payer contracts based on operational requirements. Develop, recommend and/or implement actions or process improvements as appropriate.

  • Assist in board meeting preparation.

  • Project manages the implementation and completion of various initiatives with the business unit

  • Assists in the identification and onboarding of team members. This includes TELT and physician contract preparation.

  • Work collaboratively with the Physician Services team to improve the patient experience, operations, and clinical outcomes of the physician practices within the business unit.

  • Works collaboratively with all members of the Health Ventures team

  • Ensures a high level of staff engagement to ensure that the CC teams operate in a 'Best Place to Work' environment

Qualifications

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:


  • Bachelor's Degree

  • Minimum of 8-10 years of progressive responsibility in healthcare operations and management

  • Strong experience organizing complex projects

  • Excellent business acumen, analytical capability and negotiations skills

  • Project management experience

  • Hospital affiliation/partnership integration experience working with medical staff, hospital, health network leadership

  • Superior communication skills - oral, written, presentation

  • Ability to travel to various HMH and non-HMH facilities

  • Demonstrated entrepreneurial spirit with a track record of accomplishing challenging projects

  • Experience working in a matrix environment.

  • Experience working in a joint venture environment or with an external business partner on an initiative of mutual interest

  • Budget experience.

  • Exceptional communication skills and experience engaging and building relationships at all levels within an organization.

  • Strong business acumen focusing on results.

  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Powerpoint).

  • Understanding of the business implications of moving from volume to value-based payment for care.

  • Knowledge of health care and business metrics, benchmarks, economic engines and standards that drive and/or shape the industry.

  • Demonstrated analytical ability to identify problems, develop solutions and execute in collaboration with other leaders or constituents.

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred:

  • Master's Degree preferred
