Chosen candidate will provide hands-on leadership, coaching, and mentoring for full-stack development teams that build and our WellSky Core Platform set of services, frameworks and SDKs. Ensure we keep the talent bar high and continuously grow the skills and capabilities of the agile teams. Provides technical leadership, insights, and motivation to multiple teams, working towards delivering reliable, efficient, high quality software solutions, and delivering features, enhancements, bug fixes and other deliverables on time with required operational efficiency.

A day in the life!

In this role, your mission is:

To create the core platform upon which all other WellSky solutions will depend on for common services. To deliver on WellSky promises to enable our business solutions to utilize a common set of services across the enterprise. To follow a product-led approach to managing the WellSky enterprise platform and coach the different teams to deliver innovation faster to the market.

The engineering core platform team serves the entire engineering organization at WellSky. They are chartered with producing a portfolio of platform microservices on top of which all of WellSky's products are built.

This is a leadership position within the core platform organization, and you will report to WellSky's VP of engineering.

In this role, you'll be responsible for making important priority calls across the enterprise core platform organization. You'll serve as an architectural system expert and be responsible for developing engineering talent under your leadership.

Your peers will be other architects, engineers, and directors in WellSky that will use your services to build their own solutions.

This role is full of new opportunities to architect and build new solutions that will serve as the foundation of WellSky's products for years to come.

The Enterprise Core Platform organization's success is foundational to WellSky executing its mission and has the support of WellSky senior management

Your goals are:

Your responsibilities are:

• Deliver enterprise core services, frameworks and SDK's following the WellSky Development process


• Ensure that all enterprise core services meet production level SLO/SLI as defined


• Collaborate with the Enterprise Architecture team, Enterprise teams and end-market teams to evolve the technical requirements for the core platform as needed


• Continue a new model of engagement with Solutions Management and UX to empower teams


• Hire, coach mentor, and fire a small team of high-performing engineers


• Foster an engineering cultural of communication, collaboration, and delivery of value to WellSky clients


• Be directly involved in Sprint planning, including backlog grooming.


• Be responsible for driving team sprint success, including understanding sprint goals, burn down, and velocity. Including gathering metrics and being data-driven.

Do you have what it takes?

Required Experience:

• 3 or more years of experience as an Engineering or Delivery Manager leading global teams


• Web application or full stack development experience ( Java / .NET C# / NodeJS / Angular.js. )


• 5+ years of experience working on a SaaS product


• 3+ years of experience working in an Agile team


• Familiar with CI/CD concepts, including DevOps, as we own our production systems


• Expert level software architecture and design pattern knowledge


• Expert level database architecture and data access patterns knowledge


• Adept at conducting research into architectural and technical issues


• Excels in a fast-paced environment

Required Abilities:

• Quickly pick up enterprise development processes and effectively operate within those processes.


• Work in multidisciplinary teams to evolve requirements for the enterprise core platform.


• Understand existing structures, identify incentives, and be able to leverage systems thinking to effect organizational change.


• Manage multiple Scrum teams (~ 20 people organization), run performance management, and do basic resource planning.


• Drive architectural decisions for the teams.
