Senior Software Quality Assurance Engineer


Santa Barbara, CA


Your Tasks:


As a member of the Miltenyi Biotec team, you will ensure that software has been effectively and efficiently verified and validated prior to its release and the design effectively meets requirements. You will work to create a world class application to develop instruments used in cell sorting with applications like Covid research. The work includes designing and developing software solutions to control lasers and sensors that analyze cells, as well as manage the workflow that researchers use in the sorting process. You will work as part of a cross-disciplinary team, and you may take the lead on operational and technical projects. Additionally, you will implement software quality assurance tools or methods to improve the overall quality of software, and may including peer reviews of your methods. As a result of your continuous improvement mentality seeking to contribute to a company who thrives in pushing industry best practices in a high-visibility team, you will support the continued success of Miltenyi Biotec as a whole.


Among other responsibilities, you will:



  • Research and recommend new tools, technologies, and testing processes to assist in test planning, execution and reporting.

  • Create test plans, codes automated tests, records test progress and results, and documents test cases.

  • Identify and analyze potential problems that users might encounter and comes up with designs to address them.

  • Lead formal reviews of test plans, designs and requirements documents with cross functional teams.

  • Coach and mentor Software quality assurance engineer in execution of testing efforts.

  • Accurately predict the amount of effort required for projects and tasks. Develop plans, standards and procedures to determine product quality and release readiness.

  • Identify, isolate, track and write detailed bug reports throughout testing of products.

  • Research, analyze and document risk analysis of product features being tested.

  • Drive review of users interface for consistency and functionality.

  • Drive innovation and streamline overall testing process.

  • Perform manual and automated testing.

  • Lead defect management and maintenance. Review defects that escaped to the field to learn how they could have been prevented or detected.


Requirements:



  • Engineering degree and 7 years' experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
