We are looking for a Laboratory Supervisor 40 hours per week in our Burbank, CA location.
Schedule: Monday to Friday 7:00AM - 3:30PM
Position Summary:
This Laboratory Technical Supervisor plans, organizes, schedules, and directs the department in order to effectively utilize employees and equipment to meet established turnaround time and material utilization within budgetary constraints while adhering to quality technical standards. The Supervisor provides direct on-site analysis of the day to day operation including adjustment of specimen workflow, test performance, quality, compliance, and associated documentation to adhere to eh applicable regulatory agencies, company policies and procedures Additional tasks can be assigned at the discretion of the Manager/Director.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Direct observation of work performance and compliance with safety protocols
Review of intermediate test results, quality control records, and preventative maintenance records
Evaluation of recording and reporting of test results
Direct observation of performance of instrument maintenance/function checks
Assessment of test performance through testing of previously analyzed samples, internal blind, or external proficiency testing samples
Review of training, competency, and continuing education records
Assessment of problem solving skill
Review Quality Control data as needed and at least monthly or as required
Follows the audit calendar to ensure all as needed quality tasks are completed
Reviews timecards weekly for employee attendance and overtime
Spends an appropriate amount of time with each member of their staff, regardless of shift
Delegation to the backup supervisor to ensure proper coverage of all required tasks in his/her absence
Maintains and updates Safety Data Sheets and Standard Operation Procedures and Forms
Review of test results prior to release when applicable
Responsible for validating and implementing new methods and technologies
Must have proven leadership, interpersonal, communication, computer and technical skills in the specialty area being supervised
Interpersonal and Communication Skills
Ability to express ideas and report findings in a comprehensive and thorough manner. Answers inquires regarding methodology and special factors that can influence test results
Interacts with co-workers in a way that promotes a harmonious and cooperative working environment
Develops and promotes a "patient first" attitude towards all internal and external associates of the laboratory
Applies principles of confidentiality in all laboratory and patient matters
Presents a professional appearance and manner
Attends laboratory sponsored Continuing Education programs when provided and/or uses Media Lab for Continuing Education credits to acquire the yearly CEU requirements
Acknowledges how to maximize time and organization. Otherwise will notify supervisor of any overtime that will need to be required before any OT has been occurred
Must be able to remain calm and professional, even under stressful conditions
May be required to adjust schedule, at the needs/demands of the company
If position requires manual reading at a microscope, a prequalification test will be required
If position requires manual reading at a microscope, the job may require more sit down time
May perform special assignments or projects as assigned.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum of a 4 year BA/BS degree in medical technology, chemistry, biology, or related life science and/r meets CLIA personnel standardcriteria
State Licensure, where applicable
ASCP or other national certification preferred
Mathematical, computer, reasoning, and language skills at the college level (2 years)
Minimum of 6 years laboratory experience as a medical technologist or equivalent in a clinical laboratory environment
