IT Technician at PUC Schools

Job Description:

PUC National is a non-profit organization that serves to promote, support, benefit, replicate, and carry out the purposes and mission of Partnerships to Uplift Communities (PUC Schools).

We have a contractual relationship with Partnerships to Uplift Communities (PUC Schools) to provide a variety of support services to the schools in NE Los Angeles and the NE San Fernando Valley. This includes, but are not limited to Finance, Human Resources, Operations, IT and Data Management, facilities identification and acquisition, fundraising, grant management, college access, alumni relations, charter development and renewal, and compliance.

Job Purpose

The ideal IT Computer Technician believes in, and is passionate about the mission and commitments of PUC National and exhibits this through their leadership, reflection and collaboration to ensure schools success across the organization. Under the direct supervision of the IT Manager, the IT Computer Technician will be providing technical support for local staff, users, and maintain onsite computer equipment. The IT Computer Technician will also be customer service oriented in providing solutions to everyday technical needs at their assigned job site.

Essential Duties and responsibilities, listed but not limited, below:


  • Provide staff and users with assistance solving computer related problems, such as malfunctions and program problems

  • Test, maintain, and monitor computer programs and systems, including coordinating the installation of computer programs and systems

  • Expand or modify system to serve new purposes or improve work flow

  • Confer with clients regarding the nature of the information processing or computation needs a computer program is to address

  • Train staff and users to work with computer systems and programs

  • Determine computer software or hardware needed to set up or alter system

  • Ability to understand the implications of new information for both current and future problem-solving and decision-making

  • Determining causes of operating errors and deciding what to do about it

  • Maintain student computer fleet

  • Respond to helpdesk tickets and tasks

  • Update, Verify, and enter IT assets in inventory

  • Report any networking anomalies or issues to networking team

  • Direct and supervise IT Interns

  • Regular attendance, dependability and punctuality in conformance with the standards is essential to the successful performance of this position

Experience, Education & Skills Qualifications

Qualifications:


  • Bachelor Degree preferred

  • 2+ years IT experience

  • Must have reliable transportation with valid CA Driver's License

  • Able to work effectively in a stress filled environment

  • High level of confidentiality

  • Able to work with a diverse workforce

  • Ability to create a sense of urgency within the team and for yourself

  • Project management background (Operations driven by Project and Schedule management)

  • The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Occasionally required to kneel, climb and reach with hands and arms above shoulder level, lift up to 30 pounds. To bend, sit, stand, squat, stoop, walk, push, pull, and reach with hands and arms at shoulder level or below. Always required to wear the appropriate safety equipment for the task, which may include gloves, goggles, aprons, belts, etc.
