Job Description:

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

Press Brake Assistant report directly to Warehouse Supervisors and assist with production needs and move material as directed.

PRIMARY DUTIES:

Assist with performing daily inspections on equipment.

Immediately report all deficiencies found and unusual noises and/or difficulties in the operation of the equipment.

Identify material to be placed into production, verifying correct tag and heat numbers. Determine the weight of the material and utilize a forklift or overhead with the appropriate capacity.

Assist with verifying equipment is set up properly to process the material as specified on work order and drawings.  Verify material to be processed matches heat numbers and sales order per production report.

Assist Press Break Operator, and other staff as necessary, as they are assigned.

Always be aware of activity/co-workers in the area to insure a safe workplace. Advise all co-workers in the area before movement of material on overhead crane or forklift.

Follow all company policy procedures and be vigilant in watching for potential risks in the area and notify management of deficiencies identified.

Attend all training and safety meetings as directed.

Assist with stock checks and physical counts as directed.

Perform other tasks as directed.

Assist in training co-workers as requested.

SKILLS:

High level of attention to detail.

Knowledge of crane capacities, accessory equipment, rigging and ability to move large sized and/or unusually shaped steel plate in a safe manner.

Ability to calculate weights of material.

Strong verbal communication skills.

EXPERIENCE:

Requires a high school diploma or its equivalent and at least 2 years of experience in the field or in a related area. Familiar with safe work practices, and procedures.

$400 after successfully completing training and 1 month of employment with no counseling’s/corrective action plans in place

$400 after completing 3 months with no counseling’s/corrective action plans in place

$400 after completing 6 months with no counseling’s/corrective action plans in place
