Senior Software Project Manager

Santa Barbara, CA

Your Tasks:

As a member of the Miltenyi Biotec team, you will drive the development of new software application projects and facilitate communications and decisions with diverse cross-functional teams, both in-house and remote teams. You will run agile teams and remain aligned with different stakeholders to execute on the content and priorities agreed upon. Additionally, you will be embedded in a larger R&D program and collaborating with other project teams, and you will steer efforts from project initiation to closure, which includes the gathering of requirements, defining milestones, and delivering in scope, cost, time and quality. As a result of your ability to identify and assess project risks and challenges and drive actions to mitigate and facilitate resolution, you will support the continued success of Miltenyi Biotec as a whole.

Among other responsibilities, you will:

• Oversee status, priorities, and timelines for the same application implemented on multiple instruments with a high level of diligence and detail.


• Resolve cross-project conflicts, inter-dependencies, and program issues quickly and efficiently.


• Communicate status reports and goals, current focuses, and progress.


• Create world class applications to operate on different instruments used in cell analysis with applications like Covid research and flow cytometry and cell sorting technologies.


• Convey technical and software engineering issues using practiced communication and presentation skills, written and verbal.


• Track complex projects, defining and documenting process flow.


• Closely collaborate with numerous cross-functional teams.


• Coordinate local and remote teams according to agile principles and methods to deliver milestones on time.

Requirements:

• BS or MS degree in relevant area with 7+ years of experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.


• MBA or Project Management certification like PMP a plus.


• Familiarity with Jira and Confluence


• Background as a software development engineer a plus

Work Environment:

Generally, this job is performed in a sanitized laboratory setting and routinely uses standard medical and research equipment such as centrifuges, biosafety cabinets, microscopes, incubators, pipettes and computers. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to blood, viruses, bacteria, body fluids and other tissues. Employees entering and leaving the laboratory must wear appropriate clothing and protective equipment such as scrubs, coveralls, masks, glasses and gloves. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
