Howmet Engine Systems has an immediate opening for a Lab Technician to assist in the manufacturing process at our facility in Rochester, NY. This position will perform test sample preparation and special process inspections.

Job Summary:


  • Prepare test samples to be sent to outside testing labs by cutting to size by saw, torch or weld rod as defined on the computer spreadsheet
  • Package test material to be sent daily
  • Assist in the rework process by assuring test pieces are with the parts before they sent back to the forge shop
  • Prepare macroscopic samples to include cutting sample from bar stock or forging, grinding a flat surface, and macro etching
  • Perform spot micro preparation
  • Perform daily housekeeping functions (6S)
  • Operate forklift
  • Perform other departmental general duties as assigned
Basic Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to operate a forklift
  • Must be able to accomplish paperwork requirements of the position
  • Must be able to use computer spreadsheets
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
