Maintenance Technician

Georgia-Pacific is looking to hire a safety-oriented Maintenance Technician for our Chemical facility in Crossett, AR. The Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining and supporting all production, ancillary, facility equipment and systems and performing a variety of maintenance duties, ensuring maximum facility uptime to meet production goals while a safe operation.

What You Will Do In Your Role

  • Demonstrate knowledge of and ability to perform vibration, oil analysis, and steam trap analysis
  • Lubricate and adjust production machines, according to prescribed procedures. Other work as assigned
  • Obtain required tools, equipment, materials and instruments, clean up areas and store tools and equipment as required.
  • Work in cooperation with Engineering, Technical and Production supervisory or outside personnel when necessary
  • Maintain a working understanding of plant production processes, equipment, systems and facilities in order to perform maintenance effectively, under general direction.
  • Use past practices, basic data tables, handbooks, and technical references to determine sizes, capacity, dimensions and other working data for the approval of supervision
  • Analyze malfunctioning equipment and machines and systems (electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, etc.), recommends corrective action, and upon approval, makes repairs or modifications, as approved by supervision
  • Perform electrical connects, disconnects, and rotor rotation

The Experience You Will Bring

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Minimum of two (2) years of mechanical troubleshooting (valves, motors, pumps, etc.) experience in a manufacturing or military environment
  • Minimum one (1) year of experience working with, understanding, maintaining, and repairing mechanical components e.g.: rotating equipment inspection and assessment, coupling/pulley alignment, belt tensioning and alignment
  • Minimum one (1) year of experience working with, understanding, maintaining, and repairing mechanical pumps and seals, valves, and bearings

What Will Put You Ahead

  • Associate degree in Industrial Technology, Plant Maintenance, or Industrial Maintenance field
  • At least four (4) years of experience in a heavy industrial (multi-craft/mechanic)field
  • Experience working with, understanding, and maintaining industrial equipment
  • One (1) year experience with lubrication handling and applications
  • One (1) year experience with installation and preventive maintenance in a manufacturing environment
  • One (1) year experience in laser alignment or Predictive Maintenance Programs
