This position is in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, General Atomics SmartState Center. The individual will provide expertise in first-principles modeling and simulation of complex actinide systems and work regarding halide crystalline and molten salts. The successful candidate will have knowledge of first principles and related modeling approaches for materials systems of interest. Previous experience in actinide materials is not necessary, but preferable.
Job duties include:
Ph.D. in Materials Science, Materials Engineering, Chemistry, Physics or closely related science or engineering discipline with computational materials expertise.
Expertise in calculating thermochemical and physical properties of materials using first-principles calculations. Familiarity with electronic structure software packages and HPC systems.
