The Mechanic, Level 2, is responsible for the mechanical servicing and upkeep of all equipment, performing complex scheduled and non-routine preventative maintenance, troubleshooting problems, performing necessary repairs according to Company operating procedures in a safe manner, and acting as a mentor and leader to others. This position works under the direction of the Maintenance Supervisor.


Detailed Description:



  • Comply with all Company and customer Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) rules, practices, and guidelines

  • Act as a leader and mentor to other mechanics, assisting them with diagnostics and complex repairs

  • Perform diagnosis for problems on various types of well service equipment, based on reports from the field, using the appropriate diagnostic tests and interpreting the results

  • Perform required repairs based on troubleshooting mechanical equipment

  • Perform complex or non-routine scheduled maintenance or difficult repair work, including overhauling engines and transmissions

  • Repair and maintain machinery and mechanical equipment, such as motors, pumps, belts, conveyors, fans, air conditioners, etc.

  • Disassemble machines and repair or replace broken parts, as well as clean and lubricate parts

  • Diagnose trouble, adjusting functional parts of mechanical devices as necessary

  • Inspect completed repairs or maintenance work by less experienced mechanics

  • Maintains and places orders for materials and/or parts needed for repair or replacement

  • May perform preventive maintenance inspections, including DOT annual inspections

  • May work in the shop or in the field, depending on work assignments or work location

  • Ensure that a high level of efficiency and readiness is achieved by performing proper equipment operation, function, and maintenance

  • If CDL certified, perform pre-trip inspections and post-trip inspections, such as: proper fluid level checks and service as needed; proper brake inspections and slack adjustments as needed; proper tire inspections; proper working condition of lights; complete documentation and reporting of any defective equipment; inspecting, reporting, and maintaining proper documentation of equipment; daily signing off on post trip report, etc.

  • Fill out and maintain shipping documents for hazmat transportation, including proper use of placards and labels and securing loads

  • Represent the Company and our values with integrity while maintaining the highest ethical and legal standards with all interactions

  • Adhere to the Company's Code of Business Conduct and Ethics

  • Perform other related duties as assigned


Job Requirements:



  • Wear all required personal protective equipment (PPE) at all designated times

  • Must be able to pass Essential Functions Test (EFT) and pre-employment physical

  • Broad knowledge of diesel-powered equipment and mechanical aptitude necessary to perform primary functions of disassembly, assembly, test, and repairs

  • Knowledge of electronic equipment and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance

  • Possess basic computer skills, including in Microsoft (MS) Office (Outlook, Word, Excel etc.)

  • Knowledge of relevant equipment, policies, procedures, and specifications to maintain standardization of fracturing equipment

  • Ability to determine the type of tools and equipment needed to do a job

  • Knowledge of hydraulic or hydraulic applications as controlled by electronic components and systems

  • Knowledge of equipment functionality and control systems

  • Effective customer service and communication skills and ability to collaborate with other employees, customers and third parties via telephone, in written form, or in person

  • Demonstrate clear communication skills including ability to read, write and speak English, and to promptly follow verbal and written directions in English along with the ability to establish and maintain effective rapport with all employees at different levels both in the office and in the field

  • Ability to work under time-sensitive deadlines while maintaining a calm and professional demeanor when adversity and multiple initiatives/priorities are encountered

  • Ability to travel as needed to other offices and work sites, occasionally requiring extended travel to remote locations and/or overnight stay(s) outside normal office area

  • Willingness and ability to work long hours in different weather conditions


Minimum Qualifications:



  • High school diploma or GED certificate

  • 1+ years' mechanical experience in the troubleshooting, repairing, rebuilding, and inspecting of hydraulic and electrical equipment as well as overhauling engines and transmissions

  • Must have and maintain valid state-issued driver's license, be eligible to drive a Company vehicle and meet the requirements of the Company's vehicle program, policy and/or guidelines


Preferred Qualifications:



  • 3+ years' experience removing and installing frac pump and blender major components such as engines, transmissions, power ends, fluid ends, cooling packages and centrifugal pumps

  • 3+ years' experience building, installing, and troubleshooting electric over air and air over air actuating systems



Additional Details:


The Mechanic, Level 2 must work with an emphasis on individual safety and safety for others, including coworkers and third parties. This position includes working outdoors for long periods of time in all types of weather conditions typical of the area where the job is located, including dust, humidity, sleet, snow, rain, mud, cold, heat, wind, and other inclement weather. Working conditions for this position may involve exposure to varying outdoor conditions, including environmental chemicals, gases, noise, dampness, fumes, radiation, and heights.
