Overview

VHB is seeking an Energy Market Leader to join our dynamic energy practice in Massachusetts. We creatively collaborate with our clients to plan, site, and monitor major projects and meet the growing demand for new infrastructure in the Commonwealth and New England.

This position is for someone who wants to be part of a growing team of professionals and to lead our team in building client relationships and furthering our energy business. The ideal candidate will have previous experience managing complex permitting and licensing teams associated with energy-related projects in New England, such as renewable energy and other power generation and electric and natural gas transmission/distribution. Excellent communication skills are a must for this position, both externally with clients, agencies, and communities, and internally with our team members.

About the Position

Energy Market Leader | Watertown, MA

Responsibilities

    Manages and actively participates on project teams responsible for supporting permitting and licensing, engineering, and construction compliance phases of projects in the energy market
  • Collaborates with corporate and regional leadership to pursue new energy market business opportunities, secure new business contracts, and maintain existing clients.

  • Participates in the development and execution of energy market visibility campaigns. Attends regional conferences and networking/industry events.

  • Provides input on the regional energy market environment to assist with the preparation of annual market forecast.

  • Prepares and participates in client and proposal related presentations.

  • Performs business and client development activities.

  • Manages revenue growth, billability, project billing and collections, and project profitability.

  • Oversees quality control of deliverables for projects

  • Participates in professional and personal development aligned with career goals.

Qualifications


  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science or related field

  • 12+ years of professional environmental permitting and siting consulting experience

  • Experience with local, state and federal environmental regulations and environmental permitting (e.g. WPA, MEPA, NHESP, Chapter 91, 404/401)Experience with federal and state energy siting processes (including EFSB experience)

  • Strong external reputation and known by the regional energy utilities

  • Experience building and maintaining client relationships
