JOB SUMMARY:
Plans, designs and implements a variety of professional duties including advising, counseling, recruiting and retaining students within the College of Behavioral, Social and Health Sciences. Serves as a primary contact for faculty, staff current and prospective students for four majors. Other duties as assigned.
JOB DUTIES:
60% - Essential - Advising & Counseling:Plans, implements and evaluates activities related to the advising and counseling of students in a designated CBSHS undergraduate program(s) in a variety of areas, including admissions procedures,registration and course selection,academic progress,policy interpretation, career overviews, transfer credit, course substitutions, change of major and personal development and referral to campus services through designated date of enrollment. Plans and implements new student orientation and pre-registration activities. Following FERPA guidelines, serves as a liaison for parent inquiries. Monitor enrollment in assigned major(s) in line with departmental guidelines and capacities.
20% - Essential - Recruiting & Outreach:Recruits prospective students to the College and assigned majors by providing accurate information concerning the admissions process, degree requirements, career outlook and facts about the College's and School's academic programs serving as a primary contact for prospective transfer students to assigned major(s). Participates in recruiting activities for the University, College and the Academic Advising Center and special events for the University, College and Academic Advising Center as needed for the assigned departments. Coordinates with internal and external constituencies for all special event planning and implementation.
20% - Essential - Liaising & Communication: Plans, implements and evaluates activities designed to retain students within CBSHS majors. Serves as the primary point of contact for students as well as departmental faculty for assigned major(s). Serve as the primary contact for students in the Clemson University Bridge to Clemson program pursuing or planning to change majors to assigned program(s). Assists with the production of departmental recruiting brochures, materials, College displays, photos, and publications and website. Monitor needed website updates for advising center and department.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education - Bachelor's Degree and experience in student services programs; Work Exp 1+ years.
