Summary:

The Tax Analyst will assist our Tax Manager with all motor fuel tax and sales/use tax returns on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis.  The Tax Analyst will be responsible for the maintenance of tax exemptions within our ERP system and ensuring all required exemption certificates are on file and current.  This position requires an individual who is detail oriented with excellent analytical skills.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

• Assist Tax Manager with motor fuel tax return and sales/use tax return preparation and filing


• Reconciliation of motor fuel tax and sales/use tax general ledger accounts within the company’s ERP system


• Assist Tax Manager in responding to motor fuels and sales/use tax audit inquiries, including pulling necessary support and backup documentation


• Maintain customer sales/use tax and motor fuel tax exemption certificates and maintain exemptions within the company’s ERP system


• Additional projects and duties as assigned

Education and Skills Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting preferred


• 2+ years’ experience in sales and use tax filings, motor fuel tax filings preferred


• Strong verbal and written communication skills


• Strong computer and technical skills; advanced Microsoft Excel skills preferred


• Experience with Avalara Returns Excise, Sage preferred

• Excellent attention to detail and high standard of accuracy


• Able to work in a team environment
