(Vysnova) is a program management firm that delivers professional and technical services worldwide to governmental and commercial clients. Vysnova staff manages programs and projects primarily within the Public Health, Government Acquisition and Training sectors. We work throughout in the U.S. and overseas including; Africa, Asia, Latin America and the Middle East chiefly for governmental clients, including the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the Department of Defense (DOD), the General Services Administration (GSA), and the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID).


Currently, Vysnova is seeking a highly qualified and motivated Director of Human Resources for full-time work supporting our Corporate office both remotely and in-office as needed.


The Director of Human Resources (DHR) provides senior management-level leadership and guidance to the organization's HR operations. The DHR is responsible for setting, enforcing, and evaluating legally compliant human resources policies, procedures, and best practices, and identifying and implementing long-range strategic talent management goals. This role will effectively lead analysis and decision-making in the areas of HR operations, leadership, talent management and development, change management, talent acquisition, and employee relations. As a key member of the Vysnova Management Team, the DHR will work closely with the C-level Executive team, and will be a sounding board for the company, evaluating and influencing the effect of business decisions on people, and translating business needs to actionable HR programs and solutions. This includes, but is not limited to, the performance review process, benefits administration and compliance, and compensation administration.


This position will report to the COO and will supervise all supporting staff in the HR Department. A qualified candidate will have at least ten (10) years' work experience as a Human Resource professional along with at least three (3) years of People Manager/Supervisor experience, a strong work ethic, a proactive and collaborative nature, and experience in organization and cultural change management. The ideal candidate will have experience working in a Federal Government Contracting environment, preferably having aided in the transition from small to large in a growing organization.



Major Areas of Responsibility:


  • Define, document, and provide oversight and management of the recruitment, new employee onboarding, and separation processes;
  • Drive adoption, compliance, and continuous improvement of the performance management process;
  • Administer and continuously improve the initial salary determination, position description, and raise process;

  • Responsible for oversight and management of HR compliance function including supporting HR audits, documentation and testing of key controls, and ensuring internal policies and processes support compliance requirements;

  • Conduct research and analysis of organizational trends including review of data and metrics;

  • Serve as the HR risk management expert, reviewing and modifying policies and practices to maintain compliance;

  • Set, communicate, and drive adherence and alignment to the organization's policies, processes, and procedures. Review and make recommendations annually;

  • Handle employee relations and personnel issues, consult with legal counsel as appropriate, and/or as directed by Executive leadership;
  • Oversee benefits administration and compliance managed by the Human Resources Generalist (to be hired);
  • Oversee recruitment efforts managed by the Talent Acquisition Manager;
  • Develop and implement departmental budget with guidance from Controller;
  • Support current and future business needs through the development, engagement, motivation and retention of human capital.
  • Support general operations of the organization in a number of other ways and help maintain a strong organizational culture.
  • Prepare presentations for Executive leadership and/or Board of Advisors.
  • Facilitates professional development, training and certification activities for HR staff.

Experience and Skill Requirements:


  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required; Master's degree preferred.

  • At least ten (10) years of professional Human Resources relevant experience with a minimum 3 years as a People Manager, preferably with a Federal Government Contracting organization;

  • Proven ability to develop policies, processes and procedures;

  • Deep understanding of core HR processes and labor law;

  • Excellent oral and written communications skills;
  • High degree of proficiency in MS Office - Word, PowerPoint, Excel
  • Experience and proficiency in use of HRIS;
  • Proactive, collaborative, team-oriented;
  • Thorough knowledge of the general principles and practices of human resources administration;
  • Knowledge of and experience with sound techniques in all aspects of human resources management, including a proven track record in hiring judgment;
  • Demonstrated ability to develop long-term plans and programs and to evaluate work accomplishments;
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with management staff, employees, and the general public;
  • Ability to communicate effectively with employees and outside contacts at all levels; both in oral and written form, and handle multiple tasks simultaneously;
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills, as well as attention to detail;
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented work environment;
  • PHR or SHRM-CP required; SPHR or SHRM-SCP certification preferred.
  • Experience transitioning an organization from small to large strongly preferred.
  • The individual may be required to hold a USG Security Clearance.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future.
