Job Description:

POSITION PURPOSE 

The Swim Instructor Aide is responsible for working in the water with a Certified Swim Lesson Instructor.  Assist in conducting swim lessons for members and participants.  Provide support and encouragement to assist students in learning to swim.  Ensuring safety and cleanliness of pool area and adherence to all YMCA Aquatic Safety Standards at all times.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• 
  Provide a safe environment that allows members and participants to learn to swim.
  


• 
  Encourage and support students to provide an enjoyable aquatics experience.
  


• 
  Evaluate swimming skills, complete progress reports for each session, complete communications for parents.
  


• 
  Assist in the instruction of swimming skills and techniques in accordance with YMCA standards, under the direct supervision of a certified YMCA Swim Lesson Instructor
  


• 
  Participate as a part of the aquatics staff team in providing a safe and enjoyable environment.
  


• 
  Respect others by arriving on time and in accordance with schedule.
  


• 
  Attend staff meetings and trainings as required.
  


• 
  Pursue YMCA Swim Lesson Instructor certification
  

 

ROLE SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS

• 
  15 years of age with successful completion of swimming skills test.
  


• 
  Pursue YMCA swim Lesson Instructor certification.
