About the job

Alcoa is seeking applications for a skilled Technical Process Manager supporting the Smelter Operations for our largest plant in Warrick, IN. This role will require a Process Engineering specialist to drive efficiency and demonstrate technical leadership for all engineering functions required to ensure process improvement across the department. With a focus on Alcoa business objectives and quality systems excellence, the incumbent will lead a safety-first, high efficiency team!

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:


  • Aligning process development initiatives by applying proven methodologies and core operating standards

  • Assisting the production departments in developing and forecasting the capital budget and operating costs in conjunction with the plant manager

  • Monitor and identify gaps/ opportunities related to smelter raw materials and inventory in order to secure operations

  • Serve as technical network for the CoE (corporate process and lean help chain)

  • Mentor/coach plant process engineers as appropriate

  • Implement, develop and sustain process management and quality systems

  • Participation on the plant-wide Technical Counsel to address both short- and long-term needs for technical talent throughout the plant

  • Evaluate existing processes or operations for efficiency and recommends improvements

  • Provides clear progress and status to the leadership team quickly and proactively addresses issues by identifying options and recommendations for resolution

About you:

  • B.S. in Chemical, Metallurgical or Materials Science engineering or other technical field

  • 5 years supervision experience in a smelter/manufacturing environment providing oversight support to process and operations OR 5 years of technical contributor experience with advanced knowledge of processes and demonstrated leadership skills

  • Experience leading technical resources

  • Ability to manage and lead multiple complex projects

  • Ability to analyze complex data and formulate long term plans

  • Outstanding communication skills, with the ability to communicate to all levels of the organization both verbally and in writing
