Sr. Global Manufacturing Engineer - EV Gear at Dana Limited

Job Description:

Dana is a global leader in the supply of highly engineered driveline, sealing, and thermal-management technologies that improve the efficiency and performance of vehicles with both conventional and alternative-energy powertrains. Serving three primary markets – passenger vehicle, commercial truck, and off-highway equipment – Dana provides the world's original-equipment manufacturers and the aftermarket with local product and service support through a network of nearly 100 engineering, manufacturing, and distribution facilities.

This position is responsible for operational/manufacturing engineering support for parallel axis, bevel, hypoid and differential gears and splines for Dana’s global gear operations. It requires a high degree of technical capability while working in a high energy team environment focused on the manufacturing development of all gear types, providing operational technical support and is also responsible for supporting the corporate gear operational strategy and gear engineering team who lead the design and analysis of these gears. Other duties include but are not limited to the following:

Primary Job Responsibilities:


  • Research, support and develop new methods, processes, and procedures to be used in all aspects of gear design, analysis, development, and manufacturing arenas.

  • Participate in determining SBOE, DFMEAS, PFMEAS, control plans and DFM activities.

  • Author technical reports and papers, create and make technical presentations.

  • Participate in product design/development review meetings providing input on gears and splines.

  • Assist production facilities with development, manufacturing, and troubleshooting of gears and splines.

  • Participate and assist with PPAP’s and new product launches at domestic and international facilities.


  • Work with WHMTC Gear Lab to support in-plant development of production ready bevel gears to meet various customer needs and performance requirements in accordance with internal design and process specifications.


  • Have an in-depth working knowledge and the ability to train others on the setup and operation of the specialized gear equipment required to manufacture and measure splines and bevel gearing.


  • Support the development of procedures and methodologies for the manufacturing of splines and various gear types to ensure quality and standardization across multiple global facilities.

  • To travel (40%) domestically and internationally to support production and program launches in gear manufacturing and axle assembly facilities.

  • Interact with customers and suppliers to support and maintain innovation and world class standards within the gear operations.

Qualifications:


  • Minimum four year degree in Mechanical Engineering (BSME).

  • Minimum 10 years bevel gear engineering experience in the automotive, commercial vehicle or off-highway industries.


  • Demonstrated computer proficiency in various computer systems/programs such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint and other computer applications.

  • Engineering experience in using gear design software.

  • Familiarity with all aspects of gear manufacturing.

  • Must be willing and able to work extra hours as necessary to complete assignments.

  • Must be able to travel domestically and internationally as needed.

  • Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills.

  • Must be able to work in a team environment and have good communication skills.
