Job Description:

One of the largest health systems in New York is seeking a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to join their ICU/Critical Care team.  The Advanced Practice Professional will work under the supervision/collaboration of a qualified physician member of the ICU/Critical Care Medical Staff.


The Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner will work days with variable shifts, variable days, full time.  The medical center has over 500 beds including 100 nursing home beds and is a teaching hospital.  There are 25 ICU beds, as well.  With almost 900 physicians on staff, and a level II Trauma Center, they care for well over 100,000 patients annually. Their reputation for excellence is what makes this health system a leader in the community.  


The Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner will work to obtain a detailed medical history of patients, perform comprehensive physical examinations, diagnose medical problems, order and interpret diagnostic studies, institute appropriate medical treatment, order medications, perform invasive procedures and counsel patients and employees as credentialed and dispense DME equipment.


The qualified Physician Assistant will be a graduate of a Physician Assistant program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant or by one of its predecessor agencies. Physician Assistant's must also have current NCCPA certification. The qualified Nurse Practitioner must be a graduate of an approved program for the training of NP's.  NP's must have current RN license and current NYS AANP or ANCC certification.  BLS and ACLS required. DEA registration required for those with discharge responsibilities.
