Job Description:

Performs skilled & semi-skilled maintenance, replacement, minor installation & repair of electrical equipment (e.g., light fixtures, electrical outlets, switches, motors, appliances, electrical circuits, emergency generators, fire alarms, meters, fans, receptacles and breakers).  Responsible for making changes in the physical set-up of events during rentals and electrical hook-up for trade shows and conferences as needed.  Maintains, repairs and operates in-house permanent sound systems and portable systems, microphones and components of public address systems.

 

Maintains and repairs all types of heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems.  Maintains and repairs plumbing on toilets, sinks, water lines, sewer lines, gas lines and gas valves.

 

Performs carpentry work involving skilled & semi-skilled maintenance, alteration &/or repair to buildings, equipment & wooden structures (e.g., doors, windows, walls, woodwork, floors & partitions); performs minor roof repairs.

 

Maintains and repairs pedestrian and roll up doors; repair, adjust, replace door closers, panic bars, locks and latches.  Maintains and replaces gutters, steps, windows, floor tile and floors.

 

Attends events when scheduled and signs out keys, two-way radios, tools and miscellaneous equipment.  During livestock events, responsible for the head count of all livestock, stalls for both bedding and tack, and different types of bedding used.  Assists in the set-up, clean-up and removal of programs and rental events (e.g., hauls tables, chairs, platforms, stages and all event-related equipment and sets it up according to information sheets provided by the rental office; cleans stalls, sweeps, scrubs, mops, washes windows and walls and ensures building is cleaned and in presentable condition for the public; removes all set-up materials and stores it properly). 

 

Performs other related maintenance duties as assigned (e.g., assists in painting materials for events and painting of buildings interior and exterior; removes snow and ice and spreads salt on walks and roadways; takes gas and electric meter readings as outlined in event write-ups and turns in for billing purposes; operates forklift and assists in cleaning buildings).

Formal education in arithmetic that includes addition & subtraction & in reading, writing & speaking common English vocabulary; 6 mos. trg. or 6 mos. exp. in maintenance repair work (e.g., basic electricity, plumbing, carpentry, masonry repair & use of associated hand & power tools & equipment); in Department of Natural Resources, Division of Forestry only, applicants must have successfully completed the mandated basic firefighter/introduction to fire behavior course

(S-130/S-190); in accordance with section 124.11 (B) (2) of revised code, Director Of Administrative Services has determined this classification to be unskilled labor class & therefore exempt from written examination. Valid commercial driver's license required if motor equipment is of type & size regulated by sections 4506.01 & 4506.12 of Ohio revised code.
