The Shipping/Receiving (S/R) Shipping and Receiving Crew Leader safely receives raw materials into the facility and ensures that those raw materials are properly identified, correctly entered into the information system and properly stored in a secure location. The S/R Shipping and Receiving c maintains traceable records of incoming material to MCGA and performs a visual inspection of all incoming material for defects that would affect the quality of a finished, coated product. The S/R Shipping and Receiving Crew Leader ensures that safe and organized work areas are maintained
in the raw material storage areas of the facility. The S/R Shipping and Receiving C ensures that finished product is safely shipped to the customer or consignee. The S/R Shipping and Receiving Crew Leader ensures that all products shipped to the customer or consignee has been inspected for damage or other defect's which; would affect product quality. The S/R Shipping and Receiving
Crew Leader is also responsible for verification that the correct material is shipped to the correct destination. The S/R Shipping and Receiving Crew Leader prepares and distributes all paperwork required at the time of shipment.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:


  • Responsible for ensuring that incoming material is unloaded from trucks and/or other freight hauling vehicles in a safe manner.

  • Responsible for verification of raw material identity prior to receiving of material(s). Reviews incoming paperwork from freight hauler and ensures that it is returned to driver.

  • Responsible for ensuring that incoming material has been inspected for visual defects that would affect product quality during MCGA processing.

  • Ensures that all defective material encountered throughout the work area is placed into quarantine status using HFI procedures.

  • Communicates with Quality Control regarding the cause and extent of the condition.

  • Responsible for maintaining traceability of material identification and ensuring that the material is properly identified (entered) in the information system.

  • Responsible for ensuring that all raw materials is safely secured (using coil saddles, chains, etc.) in a designated location where the condition of the coil will be properly preserved for future processing. Ensures that the location of the coil is properly recorded.

  • Responsible for maintaining safe and organized departmental work areas.

  • Responsible for generating and distributing various receiving reports from the previous operating day.

  • Responsible for informing the Sales Department (Account Executives) of the receipt of raw materials.

  • Responsible for understanding and complying with the fundamental principles associated with the Quality and Environmental Management System in place at Metal Coaters of Georgia, Inc.

  • Communicates daily with internal personnel from Sales, Maintenance, Operations and Quality Control to help resolve any problems and help achieve company goals.

Shipping:


  • Responsible for collecting and acting upon shipping releases, from the sales department.

  • Assists with scheduling of appointments for trucks to pick-up finished material from Metal
    Coaters of Georgia, Inc.

  • Responsible for correctly staging material for loading/shipment in advance of a scheduled shipping appointment.

  • Responsible for safely loading finished product on trucks and/or other freight hauling vehicles.

  • Ensures that material identity is correct, and weight is properly distributed on freight vehicles.

  • Responsible for ensuring that all truck drivers who haul finished material use chains to secure the material, chain protectors to prevent damage to material and tarps to protect material from moisture.

  • Responsible for preparation of all the documents (bills of lading, tally, etc.) required at the time of shipment.

  • Responsible for ensuring that all material staged for shipment has been visually inspected for defects or damage that would affect customer satisfaction. Ensures that defective is moved into a quarantine status using HFI procedures.

Environmental Impacts of this Position:


  • The Shipping / Receiving department has a responsibility of avoiding environmental impacts such as; the of release gas vapors, oils, grease from forklifts and cranes, solvents, paints and various other chemicals by accidental puncture, while performing your daily duties. Which can contaminate the soil, storm drains an atmosphere.

  • You also have the responsibility to recycle all recyclable materials such as: paper, cardboard, ink cartridges etc. Caution must be taken to avoid spills and good housekeeping practices are essential as a preventative measure. If a spill occurs, the Spill Response Log and Report Procedure must be followed. The Shipping and Receiving Crew Leader is also responsible in assuring all employees under them practice good housekeeping.

Education and/or Experience:

  • High School Diploma or (GED) and a minimum of three (3) years of related industrial work experience.

Language Skills:

  • Also, the ability to communicate information in small group situations to other employees.

Mathematical Skills:

  • Ability to calculate figure's and amounts such as: fractions and percentages.

Reasoning Ability:


  • Ability to apply common sense understanding while performing work instruction's that are furnished in written, oral or diagram forms.

  • Also, the ability to solve problems which involve multiple variables in a standard situation.

Other Skills & Abilities:

  • Incumbent is required to operate an overhead crane, drive a forklift, and use power tools. PC skills are preferable.

Physical Demands:


  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to walk.

  • The employee is occasionally required to stand; sit; bend; stoop; use hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance.

  • The employee will be required to be capable of lifting a minimum weight of 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities include close-up and distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth
    perception.

Work Environment:


  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally performs near moving mechanical
    parts and is occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals and extreme cold or heat. The noise level in the work environment is considered moderate.

  • If (in the event of an abnormal occurrence) an employee feels uncomfortable, unsure or unable to safely correct an issue, that employee must contact a member of plant leadership for assistance prior to attempting to correct the issue.
