Accountable for the tactical execution of the chemical plans to support Universal's regional business including but not limited to:
Work with Sales department develop chemical forecasts
Ensure chemical gaps are identified early and mitigated as needed
Create purchase requisitions for chemical and/or waste services as business needs dictate
Manage daily performance of chemical suppliers
Ensure all chemical purchase orders (POs) are in place to support logistics execution
Mitigate and manage any chemical supplier failures
Manage open POs
Review District inventory count to determine purchase quantities
Assist with gathering market intelligence and analysis in support of strategic plan creation for the chemical category
Understand both regional and national supply, and demand market players and dynamics to consider in category plans
Support initiative planning and execution
Understand and utilize "should cost" and other cost models as it relates to commercial impacts to support the chemical category
Assist with executing strategic sourcing events, spot bidding, relationship management, or other activities as a part of the chemical category plan
Provide guidance and leadership for request for pricing (RFP) development and evaluation, negotiations, supplier selection, and award recommendation as needed
Prepare and lead fact-based negotiations and execute contracts utilizing approved terms and conditions
Accountable for regional stakeholder management during all phases of the category management process; work with stakeholders to implement category strategies including contract awards, supplier performance metrics (where applicable), and ongoing performance improvement initiatives
Execute performance management of high spend, strategic impact suppliers as needed
Represent the Company and our values with integrity while maintaining the highest ethical and legal standards with all interactions
Adhere to the Company's Code of Business Conduct and Ethics
Perform other related duties as assigned
Job Requirements:
Strong written and oral communication skills with demonstrated ability to conduct effective presentations and written report preparation
Possess strong analytical skills, including the ability to perform detailed market analysis
Effective customer service and ability to manage a diverse customer base
Skilled in Microsoft (MS) Office Suite applications, such as MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook
Ability to organize, multi-task, prioritize and work under time-sensitive deadlines while maintaining a calm and professional demeanor when adversity and multiple initiatives/priorities are encountered
Excellent networking skills complemented by the ability to develop and sustain strategic relationships
Able to work independently or as part of a team, with minimal supervision
Maintain professional demeanor in all situations and with excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills and the ability to work effectively with employees at all levels, and third parties
Ability to travel as needed to other offices and work sites, occasionally requiring extended travel to remote locations and/or overnight stay(s) outside normal office area
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in business, marketing, supply chain, or related field of study
1+ years' experience in chemicals business working in a Supply Chain or Technical Sales role
Ability to demonstrate knowledge of supply chain, preferably within the oil & gas industry
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's Degree/MBA in related field of study
Supply Chain related certifications
Experience in the Oil & Gas industry; with pressure pumping as an integral part of the business
Additional Details:
The Chemicals Category Specialist must work with an emphasis on individual safety and safety for others, including coworkers and third parties. Work is primarily in a climate controlled / office environment with minimal safety / health hazard potential. The employee is regularly required to sit, stand, or walk with occasional lifting (overhead, waist level) from floor, bending and frequent near vision use for reading and use of computer, telephone, and other office equipment.
