The Advanced Concepts & Technologies Group develops technology to protect land and sea assets from air and missile threats, which operate in a rapidly evolving complex Electronic Warfare (EW) environment. The group's research and development activities span a wide spectrum including concept development, advanced algorithms development, prototyping, experimental field-testing, and analysis of systems and data. Of particular interest to the group is the development of: software-reconfigurable electronic warfare systems and prototypes, advanced signal processing algorithms for signal exploitation, resource coordination techniques for enhanced battle management, and artificial intelligence to enable the development of next generation countermeasures, sensors, and enhanced human-machine teaming for fleet defense. Due to the wide-ranging nature of research, this dynamic group is comprised of a diverse team of scientists and engineers with expertise in physics, mathematics, computer science, and various engineering backgrounds. The group values inclusiveness, fosters mentoring at all levels, and promotes critical and innovative thinking to address the needs of the warfighter.


Job Description


A Summer Research Program intern is needed to work in the Advanced Concepts and Technologies Group in the Air, Missile, and Maritime Defense Technology Division. The intern may be involved in a variety of projects related to the development of radars, electronic warfare, algorithms, and system-of-systems technologies. Our staff help protect the nation's assets and our sailors and soldiers against missile threats by developing electronic warfare technologies, advanced sensors and processing, along with artificial intelligence-based resource coordination algorithms. We address all facets of new technology by developing system concepts, validating these concepts through modeling and simulation, designing hardware and software solutions for systems, and then developing prototypes that we field test.

Position Requirements:

- Current enrollment in a program working towards a BS, MS or PhD degree in Mathematics, Applied Mathematics,

Physics, Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering.

- Demonstrated effective organizational skills and ability to work independently and in a team environment.

- Demonstrated strong written and oral communication skills.

- Knowledge across a subset of these areas is desired (not all are required by the candidate): linear algebra,

physics, applied electromagnetics, control and dynamical systems, signal processing, software development,

embedded systems, artificial intelligence, probability theory.


Selected candidate will be subject to a pre-employment background investigation and must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret level DoD security clearance.
