We are seeking an entry-level or recent graduate for the role of Electromechanical engineer in our Cedar Rapids, IA office.
This role:
Uses knowledge of mechanical, electromechanical, and mechatronic systems or products to lead engineering project teams and support functions, and to interface with cross functional peers for the development of new offers or evolution of existing offers.
Develops solutions for external customers (electricians, installers etc.) and internal customers (marketing, industrialization, quality etc.).
Assists in the refinement of Marketing Offer Requirements. Development of Technical Product Specifications.
Competitive analysis.
Development of product architecture options and selection methods.
Project management skills: Defines engineering work packages, develop project schedule, estimate resources required. Direct tasks of mechanical designers, technicians, and other resources. Ability to present and communicate clearly project summaries to internal stakeholders.
Facilitates the generation of prototypes for testing.
Author verification and validation test plans including test method and acceptance criteria.
Interpretation of test results and other data. Ability to synthesize data into technical communication for effective written and oral presentation to senior management.
Oversees the development of the product definition file: 3D component modeling, 3D assembly creation, 2D drawing creation using GD&T, BOM creation, and development of other specifications. Experience with ProEngineer preferred.
Documentation of intellectual property, novel ideas for patent applications.
Analyzes risks of safety products. Quantify risks and develop mitigations using FMEA and FTA techniques.
Contributes to development of user documentation such as instruction bulletins, safety labels, and product markings.
Desired analysis skills: finite element analysis / strength of materials, dynamic / kinematic analysis, thermal simulation, magnetic simulation. Use of statistical techniques for analyzing empirical data.
Qualifications:
Bachelors degree or Masters in electrical, mechanical or related engineering program; or relevant experience
Internship or at least 1 year relevant experience preferred
Experience designing parts with ferrous and nonferrous metal, thermoset and thermoplastic, electrical contacts and connections, springs, fasteners.
Familiarity with manufacturing techniques, such as progressive stamping, thermoplastic and thermoset molding, design for manufacture and design for assembly, including automated assembly.
Experience with PCBA and electronic component packaging.
Experience with AutoCAD, SolidWorks or Creo
