Blend Technician

The Batch Technician will report to the Kitchen Cooks for FMLA Work Order sequence for the shift. The Batch Tech will work closely with the Kitchen Cooks to ensure all required batches are ready for the Kettles. The Batch Tech will communicate with the Kitchen Cooks to see if any changes have been made, prior to setting up next batch of ingredients. The Batch Tech will either set up minor ingredients or bulk ingredients as per rotation. The Batch Tech will be required to follow all Quality, GMP, Safety, Production, Training and Housekeeping requirements.

Shift: 2nd 12pm to 8:30pm

Wage: $18.21/hr.

Essential Functions:


  • Comply with Required GMP, hair covering and hearing protection policies.


  • Report to Batch Weighing Ingredient room on time at start up, and after breaks and lunches


  • Filler Operator will review the FMLA Work Order with the Cooks prior batch weighing to ensure Production Schedule has not changed.


  • Batch Tech will issue ingredients, i.e. such as Milk, Sugar, and Rice. They will use the DSI system (RF unit) to issue to the FMLA Work Order.


  • Report any ingredient inventory issues to the Kitchen Lead and Supervisor immediately for investigation.


  • Batch Tech will maintain direct verbal communication with the Kitchen Cooks and Kitchen Lead at all times.


  • The Batch Tech will maintain ingredient carts with the correct Kettle designation. Kitchen Cooks will assist the Batch Tech in ingredient dumping into Kettles and Breddo's.


  • Batch Tech must be technically sound in using scales to weigh both in grams and pounds.


  • Batch Tech must be able to operate the Flexicon equipment and change over totes safely when needed.


  • The Batch Tech will check Flexicon Sugar and Rice magnets hourly and on any tote changeover.


  • Must maintain the Batch Makers Report" filled out during each batch weighed out. Sign off after it is completed.


  • Review the "Batch Makers Report" with Kitchen Cooks when they accept the batch and have Cooks sign off after it is completed.


  • Report all Non-Conforming discrepancies to Kitchen Lead, QC and Management immediately.


  • Report all safety and GMP violations to Lead or Supervisor in a timely manner.


  • Insure Ingredient room and Flexicon room is maintained neatly.


  • Keep ingredients on Pallet Assistant bagged after each use.


  • Notify Kitchen Lead and Maintenance of any equipment failures on the Filler assigned.


  • Conduct and lead the Changeover team on any of the (3) three designated Changeover types for the Fillers.


  • Check for O-ring serviceability, cleaning and lubricating of cylinders and plungers as required per Filler


  • Ability to read and understand English


Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Traits:

  • Follow instructions and support Kitchen Lead maintaining Safety/GMP requirements for the Kitchen Batch Weighing area.

Decision-making: The work instructions are very specific, with little judgment required.

Supervisory Responsibilities: N/A

Equipment Used: Hand Carts, containers, Flexicon equipment, scale.

Education Requirement: High School diploma/GED preferred.

Physical Demands:


  • Will need to be able to work in a hot environment where temperatures can vary from 58° to 105° degrees.


  • Will need to be available to work overtime, weekends including Saturday and Sunday based on production needs.


Time Demands:


  • On occasion, business demands may require some employees to work overtime.


  • When overtime is required, employees are expected to work extra hours as required to meet business needs - this is a requirement of this position.
