Modern Healthcareis looking for a Content Strategist, a full-time position in the Chicago office of Modern Healthcare and reports to the Education and Events Director. The individual should be passionate, well-rounded, and creative, supporting our goal to ambitiously grow strategy and high-volume of event and custom content.

Position requires excellent verbal and written communication, project management and critical thinking skills. Additionally, the candidate must be able to work on a variety of projects simultaneously and adhere to multiple deadlines; develop client relationships as well as team relationships. The Content Strategist must be innovative, strategic and creative in their approach and thrive in a fast-pace environment that is constantly evolving to fit the needs of marketers and the changing media landscape.

Objectives & Responsibilities:


  • Write, edit and proofread materials including whitepapers, thought leadership articles, case studies, web copy, blog postings, social media content and other communications on behalf of Modern Healthcare clients

  • Identify, develop and execute thought leadership strategies and tactics on behalf of Modern Healthcare clients

  • Work closely with the team in the development of conference agendas and themes for panel discussion topics and keynote speaker presentations for both physical as well as virtual (webinar) events

  • Vet, recruit and prepare panelists, guest speakers and moderators

  • Work collaboratively with clients, sponsors and team to develop workshops and roundtable topics, and ideas for messaging as well as presentation format for relevancy and effectiveness.

  • Conduct market research and competitive analysis

  • Demonstrate knowledge and effectively utilize social media tactics and best practices

  • Strong presentation skills including the ability to moderate webinars and panel discussions

  • Manage freelancer and vendor relationships to ensure that Modern Healthcare receives the best value

  • Participate in new business development process including research and proposal preparation in partnership with Modern Healthcare Account Executives

  • Provide client service administrative support; attend meetings and work closely with project manager and utilize available software to ensure deadlines are realistic and met

Candidate must have:


  • Bachelor's Degree (preferably in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations or related concentration)

  • Minimum of 4 - 6 years of content development experience

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Knowledge of the healthcare and/or publishing industry a plus

  • Organized, detail-oriented, and multi-tasker who thrives in fast paced environment, has the ability to meet deadlines

  • Self-starter who can work independently as well as with a team to service a variety of clients

  • Creativity and ability to identify the appropriate content and promotional vehicles to meet client expectations and deliver results

  • Passion and desire to succeed

  • Must have a strong work ethic and be dedicated to consistently providing quality work

  • Ability to work under pressure

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office

  • Positive and a can-do attitude

  • Team player

Must provide digital portfolio or links to representative work

Preferred qualifications:


  • Understanding of the digital ecosystem (e.g. social, mobile, ad tech and video)

  • Knowledge of Smartsheet a plus

This position is exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act and is not eligible for overtime pay.
