Advisory Software Engineer, IBM Corporation, Durham, NC: Debug, problem solve, and modify deployment of new services and/or existing services to new regions of company cloud services. Perform code reviews, organize scrums, mentor junior team members and own responsibility of multiple microservices. Design functional specifications for new features and obtain approval from senior architects and offering management. Ensure all owned components are deployed into production environments and meets security and external auditing requirements. Build audit-proof processes that automate collecting evidence to meet audit requirements for services. Collaborate across squads on new technology and frameworks to prove out business requirements that contribute to strategic objectives. Reduce downtime and ensure cloud services meet or exceed 99.99% SLA uptime requirements. Participate in an on-call rotation where 24/7 support is performed to restore service to a business as usual state. Lead reliability initiatives for cloud services that reduce service downtime and provide early notification of degradation. Perform post-outage root cause analysis and deliver all assigned actions into production environments. Utilize Programming Languages (Ruby, Python, Node), Cloud Skills (Kubernetes, Postgres, Bash), Databases (Cloudant, CouchDB), DevOps (GitLab, Tekton), Secure Software Engineering Practices, and Unit and Integration testing. Required: Master’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Networking, or related (employer will accept a Bachelor's degree plus five (5) years of progressive experience in lieu of a Master’s degree) and one (1) year of experience as a Software Engineer or related.
